Newsarama staffers can tell you from personal experience that friends who have somehow managed to avoid the Marvel Cinematic Universe up to now are newly-discovering the 23-film library as a near perfect family movie choice during social distancing. And Tuesday a Twitter user by the name of @ScottGustin shared on social media one of reasons why the film series is not only such an unprecedented box office phenomena, but what the MCUers-come-lately missed the first time around.
In a clip that has quickly gone viral (again), Gustin shared what he describes as the opening-night reaction to the key scene in Avengers: Endgame when Captain America picks up Mjölnir and uses it to (briefly) kick Thanos’ ass.
The audience reaction resembles NBA fans during a buzzer-beater at a home playoff game more than a typical night at the movies. For either a few seconds of nostalgic buzz at a time when you might need it or to get a sense of what you still may still be missing, check out the clip below.
Just stop what you’re doing and enjoy listening to the #AvengersEndgame opening night crowd react to Captain America wielding Thor’s hammer.
