Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder has taken to social media site Vero, his usual outlet of choice, to offer a full director’s commentary for the controversial 2016 film.
Among Snyder’s commentary, he offered up a new tidbit about 2017’s Wonder Woman (which he co-produced), revealing that her solo film almost took place in an entirely different era than its setting of World War I.
According to Snyder (via The Hollywood Reporter), director Patty Jenkins considered setting Wonder Woman in the Crimean War (1853-1856) or the American Civil War (1861-1865) before settling on World War I.
Wonder Woman made her big screen debut in Batman v Superman, in which a photograph revealed her WWI history – a photograph that, according to Snyder, had several different versions based on each era considered for the film.
THR’s report of Snyder’s commentary does not reveal any further details of how the plot of the film may have differed based on the era in which it was set.
