Dynamite Entertainment has decided to halt all upcoming comic releases – including digital – due to the shutdown of Diamond Comic Distributors’ distribution to Direct Market comic book retailers.
“This has been a difficult decision with much forethought and discussion that we are not taking lightly,” Dynamite CEO/Publisher/founder Nick Barrucci told Newsarama. “The comics community must move forward united, and we feel it is best that retailers and fans across channels not be served unfairly in this complicated moment, to create ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots.’ We are hoping to resume getting our great comics to all our partners and fans as soon as possible.”
For its booktrade distribution, any titles that have not already shipped are also “on pause.”
“Every sale of a new periodical or collection taken out of the retailer’s hands is one more blow to them, and we want all retailers to survive this pandemic to continue to be there for all fans,” Barrucci continued. “We feel this is the best fair course until we get further answers and solutions.”
