Newbury Comics in Burlington Mall, Boston

The U.S. Northeast comic book retail chain Newbury Comics will be closing all 28 of its locations at 6 p.m. Eastern Wednesday, with plans to re-open on Sunday, April 5. This is done in effort to limit the spread of COVID-19.
“We realize the impact this closure will have on our employees and this is not a decision that we made lightly,” read a statement from the company. “We will be providing pay and extending their benefits through this time.”
The chain plans to continue operating its online store.
“We will continue to monitor this rapidly changing situation and update our customers if circumstances change,” the statement continued. “Thank you for being part of the Newbury Comics family – we will miss seeing all of you and can’t wait to see you again. Please take care of yourselves and each other.”
