DC Direct has announced a new line of statues based on classic comic book interpretations of the Joker, as announced at Toy Fair 2020.
The line, titled ‘Joker: Clown Prince of Crime’ will launch with a statue based on the art of Brian Bolland in November, followed by a statue based on Jim Lee’s Joker and one based on Lee Bermejo’s version in an unannounced timeframe. Lee’s Joke statue will be a reproduction of a piece he sculpted in 2009, available for the first time in a new edition.
DC frames the line of seven-inch statues as a “companion” line to its ‘Batman: Black & White’ and ‘Harley Quinn: Red, White & Black’ statue series, which are based on individual concepts by a variety of artists.
“Given the success of our ‘Batman Black & White’ line, it only makes sense to do a line on his arch nemesis,” said DC Direct Creative Director, Jim Fletcher, in the line’s announcement.
DC Direct plans to continue the line with further artist collaborations as with ‘Clown Prince of Crime’s’ preceding companion statue series.
