Tomorrow Studios’ live-action One Piece TV series has found a home with Netflix, according to Deadline. The streamer has reportedly ordered a 10-episode first season. One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda will be an executive producer.
Writer Steven Maeda (Lost, X-Files) is reportedly onboard as showrunner/executive producer, with Matt Owens (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Luke Cage) also writing.
“I received numerous offers for live action adaptations for One Piece. Three years ago, I finally decided to take a step forward on a live-action adaptation,” Oda said back in 2017 when Tomorrow Studios optioned the manga. ““After twists and turns, I met the right partner.
“The first condition I presented is that ‘the live-action will be faithful to the fans who have supported One Piece for 20 years,” Oda continued.
Netflix is already in business with Tomorrow Studios, with th live-action Cowboy Bebop.
