Marvel Comics has announced the creators of 2020 Ironheart (via Marvel.com), a limited-series tie-in for Iron Man 2020 for which only the title was previously revealed. Vita Ayala and Danny Lore will write 2020 Ironheart alongside artist David Messina.
The plot – which unfolds in the midst of Arno Stark’s war on Artificial Intelligence, will put Riri and her A.I. N.A.T.A.L.I.E. in the crosshairs of the robot revolution.
“Being able to write a character that I have loved is an incredible feeling,” said Ayala alongside the story’s announcement. “Riri is such a beautiful, complex, funny and intelligent kid, and honestly I was afraid I wouldn’t do her justice! Luckily I had a partner writing this one, who understands and loves the character as much as I do.”
“Riri Williams is the sort of character that made an immediate impression—on me and the world at large,” added Lore. “As a writer who also gets to work in comics retail, I’ve seen young girls light up to see someone like them in the iron suit. Being able to add to that canon is beyond amazing!”
2020 Ironheart #1 is due out in May, with a cover by Skan, seen here. The series’ length has not been specified.
