Though Daryl Dixon (played by Norman Reedus) is one of the most popular characters on The Walking Dead TV show, in it since the first season, he didn’t originate in the comic book source material. But if he had, he might look a lot like this design from original Walking Dead comic book artist Tony Moore, which envisions Daryl as if he debuted in comics books.

“A fan commissioned me to draw Daryl Dixon, but as if I had created him before the show,” reads Moore’s Instagram post, seen below. “It was a weird thing to try and divorce the character from the actor, but I tried to boil down the abstract concepts of Daryl and rebuild him from there. I had fun and this is what I came up with.”

The Walking Dead season 10 airs Sunday nights on AMC.
