The high-profile Batman/Catwoman 12-issue series by Batman‘s Tom King and Clay Mann which appeared to be scheduled to debut in January 2020 doesn’t look like it will launch that month. The high-profile new title wasn’t included in DC’s just-released January 2020 solicitations.

DC announced Batman/Catwoman back in May, albeit with language that gives the publisher some wiggle room in terms of launch date. The new title was announced concurrently with the news that King’s planned 100-issue run on Batman would instead be ending with December’s #85.

Described at the time by DC Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras as a change “to set DC up for continued success,” Batman/Catwoman was intended to ship “alongside” the main Batman title as that DC flagship title switched from its long-time twice-monthly schedule to a monthly schedule.

Technically, Batman going to monthly shipping was what was directly announced for January. According to DC, the new “Bat/Cat series in 2020 fills the gap once Batman begins to ship monthly.”

However, Batman will continue to ship twice-monthly, at least in January, with the new creative team of James Tynion IV and Tony S. Daniel.

Despite DC’s language, both King and Mann promoted a January debut for Batman/Catwoman on social media, including in this pinned tweet by Mann from June.

DC has not responded to Newsarama inquiries about the future of Batman/Catwoman.
