20th Century Fox’s planned Lumberjanes live-action film has been canceled by the studio’s new parent company Walt Disney Studios, according to Variety. The film, which has been in development since 2015, was to be written by Will Widger and directed by Emily Carmichael.

Lumberjanes is the story of five young girls who encounter supernatural forces while at summer camp. Lumberjanes was created by Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis, Noelle Stevenson, and Brooke A. Allen.

Lumberjanes was initially optioned by Fox as part of a ‘first look’ deal made between BOOM! and the studio in 2014, which also included Mouse Guard. Fox later acquired a stake in BOOM! Studios, which was part of the assets sold to Disney.

Whether BOOM! will shop Lumberjanes to other studios was not reported.
