A pair of long-gone Arrow characters will make their return for the show’s eight and final season, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Colin Donnell’s Tommy Merlyn and Josh Segarra’s Adrian Chase will each appear in Arrow season 8, though according to showrunner Beth Schwartz and Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim, neither will be the character viewers remember.

“Adrian Chase comes back in a different way than expected,” Schwartz explained. “We’re really excited about that because obviously he’s one of our favorite villains.”

Guggenheim teased that Donnelly is “not coming back as the Tommy we know,” though didn’t elaborate further.

Both characters previously died in the show – though both have had cameos since in a variety of contexts.

Arrow season 8 premieres October 15 on CW. It’s unclear in which or how many episodes Donnell and Segarra will appear.
