Warner Bros. Animation is developing a new primetime animated series based on The Flintstones, according to Variety. The project is reportedly being developed with writer/actor/director Elizabeth Banks and her Brownstone Productions shingle.

The Flintstones ran for six seasons on ABC in the 1960s, is best remembered by generations in syndication and was followed by several spin-offs including a series of live-action movie adaptations.

Seth MacFarlane was developing a Flintstones reboot for Fox in 2011, but the project was ultimately shelved. An animated film overseen by Chris Henchy, Will Ferrell, and Adam McKay has also been reported.

In 2016, DC published a revisionist take on The Flintstones created by Mark Russell and Steve Pugh.
