Ludi Lin and Ross Butler are among those Marvel Studios is looking at for the lead role in Shang-Chi, according to That Hashtag Show. Citing its unnamed sources however, other actors are expected to on the studio’s short list as well.

“It’s definitely something I want to do,” Lin told ScreenRant in late 2018 following the movie’s announcement. “To do an Asian-centric superhero. To tell that story. I mean ideally, I’d like to design my own superhero, make my own creation. But I think the Marvel world is pretty incredible as well. Especially in honor of Stan Lee, the person who created this entire, I mean like an entire universe. You know what I mean? It’s pretty incredible. And I think it would be great because it would take another big step towards representation.”

Both Lin and Butler have appeared in recent DC films – Lin as Murk in Aquaman, and Butler as the adult Eugene Choi in Shazam!.

In addition to that, Donnie Yen is reportedly being sought to discuss playing an unspecified role in the film.

That Hashtag Show reports that Shang-Chi is intended to begin production in early November. No release date has been set.
