Oni Press’ Executive Editor Ari Yarwood has exited the company – attributing the decision to her health and the company’s recent merger with Lion Forge.
“Hi, folks. Yesterday was my last day at Oni Press,” Yarwood tweeted. “I’d been considering leaving for a little while now; my creators know that I went part-time at the start of this year to try to manage my health better. Then the merger happened, and I knew it was time for me to fully move on.”
Yarwood joined Oni in 2014 as an Administrative Assistant, rising up the ranks to her most recent position as Executive Editor in 2018. Among the books she edited were Stumptown, Rick and Morty, Another Castle, Kim Reaper, Morning in America, and The Long Con.
“I worked there for 5.5 years, and I am so, so incredibly proud of the books I was able to advocate for and edit,” Yarwood said. “My creators are the kindest, most talented people, and it was my absolute joy and privilege to get to work with them. I hope you’ll continue to support their books.”
Yarwood plans to resume work as a freelancer, which she did prior to joining Oni Press.
“In the meantime, though, I’m going to be taking a break from social media for a bit as well,” she said. “Honestly, my body and my heart are exhausted.”
