A new villain named Prodigal will bedevil the Marvel Universe this summer in a three-part story titled Prodigal Sun, as announced on Marvel.com.

Prodigal Sun will stretch over three one-shots: Fantastic Four: Prodigal Sun #1, Guardians of the Galaxy: Prodigal Sun #1, and Silver Surfer Prodigal Sun #1.

Writer Peter David and artist Francesco Manna will kick off the story with Fantastic Four: Prodigal Sun #1, which sends the Richards family to the Savage Land, where Prodigal has come to be worshiped like a god.

No further details of Prodigal’s identity or powers were revealed. This character is billed as “someone new,” and does not appear to have any connection to Marvel’s previous Prodigal, a minor X-Factor villain who was, perhaps co-incidentally, co-created by Peter David.

All three Prodigal Sun one-shots will release in July.
