Captain Marvel earned $20.7 million Thursday in North America, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That figure makes it the seventh-largest superhero film in that frame, following Avengers: Infinity War ($39m), The Dark Knight Rises ($30.1m), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($27.7m), Avengers: Age of Ultron ($27.6m), Black Panther ($25.2m), and Captain America; Civil War ($25m).
Captain Marvel‘s $20.7m is almost double Wonder Woman‘s $11m in 2017 domestic previews, which went on to a strong, sustained run and a domestic total of $409.2m.
With these hard numbers now in, THR has escalated the Brie Larson film’s domestic opening weekend projection to $125 – $150m, although various box office analysts are giving higher ceiling projections based on the same Thursday preview totals.
