United States Representative Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez says its “humbling” to be depicted as a superhero in the recently-announced Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez And The Freshman Force: New Party, Who Dis? one-shot.
“It’s incredibly humbling,” The Democratic representative told TMZ. “If I can be that for a little girl somewhere where she can see herself being a superhero, I think that’s important for us to see we all have a superhero inside of us.”
Conceived by Devil’s Due publisher Josh Blaylock, the one-shot features contributions from numerous creators including Jill Thompson, Dean Haspiel, Jose Garibaldi, Tim Seeley, and more across a variety of stories in the anthology, which also includes thematic workbook activities and games.
“It’s an honor people would put so much of their time and talent into that all on their own,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “I’m especially honored that they’re donating the proceeds to Raices Texas [a non-profit that provides legal services to immigrants and refugees] for immigration and civil rights protections. So that part of the project, if it can benefit communities that need it, is really amazing.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force: New Party Who Dis? is due out May 15.
