Warner Bros. has carved out December 16, 2022 as the theatrical release date for the planned Aquaman sequel, according to Entertainment Weekly. Disney has previously scheduled an unspecified live-action movie on that date.
According to earlier reports, Warner Bros. is aiming to re-hire director James Wan for the sequel but has already hired screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. A spin-off focused on the Trench was also reported earlier this year.
The original Aquaman became the highest-grossing DC film of all time, and currently sits at $1.142 billion. The home video release is scheduled for March 5.
