By completing special stage objectives such as defeating bosses or finding hidden areas, Kirby and the Forgotten Land players can rescue Waddle Dees who have been trapped inside cages. Once freed, these Waddle Dees return to the destroyed Waddle Dee Town and begin rebuilding it. As players progress through the game and rescue more Waddle Dees, new buildings will open in town, such as a weapons shop that allows players to upgrade abilities and a bonus mini-game stand.
The first area of the game, Natural Plains, contains a total of 46 trapped Waddle Dees. Players can find the first nine in Downtown Grassland, the first stage, which will unlock the cinema in Waddle Dee Town. The game’s next stage, Through the Tunnel, hides 10 more Waddle Dees — here’s how to find them all.
How To Find The Lantern Switch Waddle Dee
At the entrance to the tunnel is an enemy that gives Kirby the Fire ability. Many of the tasks in this stage require use of Fire, so players should copy this ability. After entering the tunnel, players will see a lantern to the right that they can light. Finding and lighting all four lanterns throughout the tunnel will eventually result in a rescued Waddle Dee.
The second lantern is about midway through the tunnel in the room with moving platforms and spike enemies. The third lantern is a little ways past the second, by the gate protecting the capsule collectible. The fourth and final lantern is encircled by spike enemies and a moving platform.
How To Find The Secret Room Waddle Dee
Once players come across a dome, they should use Kirby’s new Mouthful Mode to unscrew the lid of the dome and reveal a switch. Activating this switch opens a secret room to the left. Simply entering the secret room will free a Waddle Dee.
How To Find The Four Hidden Waddle Dees
The first hidden Waddle Dee is in the secret room by the dome. Players can find the second hidden Waddle Dee at the end of the path that is revealed after lighting the last lantern. At the end of this path is a bomb block that players should destroy in order to reveal the Waddle Dee.
The third hidden Waddle Dee is in the next room. Players need to light a fuse with the Fire ability and then run and jump into the cannon before it fires. When it fires, it will launch Kirby to a secret area where the Waddle Dee is located.
Players will find a second cannon near the end of the level, close to the Wanted Poster. Make sure the stairs aren’t on the fuse before lighting it, and then jump into the cannon. This cannon will also launch Kirby to a secret area, and this is where players can collect the fourth and final hidden Waddle Dee.
How To Find The Wanted Poster Waddle Dee
As players continue through the tunnel, Kirby will inhale some stairs to acquire Stairs Mouth. In this form, Kirby will come across a Wanted Poster that shows a pink blob resembling Kirby with a giant X painted over the image. Destroy the poster using fire to free a Waddle Dee. The final three Waddle Dees are automatically rescued by players clearing the stage.
