Notably absent from Creed III is Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa, who also wrote all of the Rocky films and directed most of them. Jordan spoke on Stallone’s retiring of the iconic character, saying, “Yeah, I think that Sly let it be known that he wasn’t coming back for this one but I think, you know, his essence and his spirit… There’s always going to be a little bit of Rocky within Adonis.”

In addition to starring, Jordan will make his feature directorial debut with Creed III. “Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right.” the actor said. “Creed III is that moment — a time in my life where I’ve grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally, and learning from the Greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect. All of which sets the table for this moment.” He added, “This franchise and in particular, the themes of Creed III are deeply personal to me. I look forward to sharing the next chapter of Adonis Creed’s story with the awesome responsibility of being its director and namesake.”

He is also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing the villainous Kang the Conqueror in the upcoming film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Paul Rudd, who stars as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, said of Majors, “I’ve loved everything he’s done, and I see what he’s doing in this, and I’m knocked out by it. It is really fun to bring new people into the fold, and the enthusiasm that people have is palpable.” Additionally, Majors played a multiversal variant of Kang, referred to as “He Who Remains,” in the Season 1 finale of Disney+’s Loki.

Creed III is set to release on Nov. 23.
