The Batman helped to redefine a lot of onscreen personas for iconic characters. One of those characters is Catwoman and Zoë Kravitz’s portrayal of her was a joy for fans to see. She embodied all the best parts of the character and gave new life to her.
She managed to truly capture the spirit of Selina Kyle from the comics and bring that energy to the big screen. Kravitz’s paired so well with Pattinson’s Batman, that fans are already clamoring to see more of the duo together on screen. Her performance was incredible and truly stood out in the movie.
8 Kravitz’s Catwoman Is Smart and Clever
Catwoman is very intelligent and clever. She can work her way out of almost any situation by outsmarting and outplaying her opponents. Kravitz’s brought this energy to her performance. The Catwoman in The Batman shows that she is smart and clever by devising a plan to infiltrate Falcone’s operation and uncover the truth about her friend. She keeps pace with Batman and is able to move his investigation forward in ways that he hadn’t even thought of.
7 She Has A Quick Wit
Oftentimes in the comics, Catwoman exchanged quips and witty remarks with Batman and the other villains in Gotham City. While Kravitz’s Catwoman isn’t quite so on the nose, viewers can still tell that her character possesses an impressive wit. She keeps Batman on his toes with her conversation and she knows how to talk her way into a room. Her wit is charming and helps her to accomplish many of her goals. Being witty and charismatic is essential to the character, so many fans were happy that The Batman‘s Catwoman had those qualities.
6 She Is Very Resourceful
Catwoman has always been a character who can complete her goals with very few resources at her disposal. She is creative and finds ways to do things that others may not be able to do. In The Batman, she displays some of this resourcefulness. She teams up with Batman out of necessity, she investigates her father and confronts him, and she even goes after The Penguin in order to find her missing friend. In each of these tasks, she displays independence and resourcefulness that help to see her through to the end of her goals.
5 Catwoman Is Fiercely Independent
Even though she frequently partners with Batman or other villains in the comics, Catwoman is very independent and always out to help herself first. The film version is very similar to this.
Her motivations are not to clean up the city or stop corruption but to discover what happened to her friend and make some money. Even when she agrees to work with Batman, it isn’t because she needs help or even wants it but it’s because having help can get her what she wants faster and easier.
4 Her Version Is Deadly And Protective
Catwoman in The Batman has claws. She is seen wielding a version of her classic whip and she can more than hold her own in many conflicts. Catwoman has always been a physical threat as well as an intellectual threat, so it was important that The Batman show both sides of the character. Zoë Kravitz’s brought great physicality to her portrayal and truly made it feel as though Catwoman could take down anyone who got in her way.
3 Zoë’s Catwoman Shows Her Softer Side
While Catwoman often puts up a tough front, she is also compassionate and caring. Amongst everything else, The Batman also manages to show the softer side of the character as well. She lets down her walls and begins to relate to Batman, even though he is everything she normally dislikes, she sees that he is broken and hurting. She wants to care for him, but her instincts continue to drive her away from Batman and Gotham. Fans are hoping to see this evolve more in future series and movies as it has become a large part of the comics in recent years.
2 She Embodies The Courage Of Catwoman
Catwoman is daring and courageous and Zoë Kravitz shows both those qualities as the iconic burglar. She doesn’t back down from any challenges and faces each new daunting task head-on. She fearlessly takes on Carmine Falcone, doesn’t back down when Batman is after her, and she doesn’t hesitate to stand up to the Penguin’s thugs. Each challenge that she encounters she takes in stride, showing as much bravery as any other hero or villain.
1 She Shows That Catwoman Can Run Circles Around Batman
Batman can hold his own against the worst the Gotham City can throw at him, but in the comics, Catwoman can still manage to distract him and throw him off his game. This was on display in The Batman also, even if it was to a lesser degree. Batman was consumed fully with vengeance, with no time for anything else. But from his first meeting with Catwoman, he became distracted. He wanted to see her again and jumped at the chance when it arose. Her presence threw his entire mission off its course and led to him becoming more than just a vigilante.
