Moon Knight ‘Spoiler’ Video Teases the Hero’s Werewolf by Night Origin

A new featurette for Moon Knight teases the hero’s connection to another Marvel character: Werewolf By Night.

The featurette sees stars Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy in the “Marvel Studios Waiting Room,” where they’re being kept until the show premieres in order to stop them from spoiling anything. At one point, Isaac picks up a booklet titled “Things That Are OK to Share About Moon Knight,” only to find that all of the pages are blank. The Waiting Room is decorated with various Marvel accoutrements, including motivational posters featuring Thanos and the Watcher, a dartboard with one of Hawkeye’s arrows sticking out of it and a wall of photographs celebrating Doctor Strange as Employee of the Month. On a desk next to Hawke, there’s also a framed copy of Werewolf By Night #32, the comic where Moon Knight made his first appearance.

In the comic, Moon Knight wass introduced as a mercenary hired by the sinister Committee to capture Jack Russell, the heroic and titular werewolf. Moon Knight eventually saw the error of his ways and turned against the Committee, becoming an ally and friend to Russell. Currently, Marvel Studios is reportedly developing a Werewolf By Night Halloween special, set to debut sometime this fall on Disney+. Gael García Bernal and Laura Donnelly have been cast to star in the special, with composer Michael Giacchino serving as director.

With characters like Moon Knight and Werewolf By Night set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have speculated that this may lead to the onscreen formation of the Midnight Sons, a team of mystical heroes united against otherworldly threats. The studio is also developing a Blade project starring Mahershahla Ali as the titular vampire hunter, while rumors abound that Norman Reedus will join the MCU as the new Ghost Rider.

As it stands, Moon Knight executive producer Grant Curtis has said that the series has no overt ties to the rest of the MCU,  comparing the hero to Tony Stark in the first Iron Man movie. “That was a character that was obviously built from the ground up,” Curtis has explained, “it is the same with Marc Spector.”
