Anansi Boys BTS Photos Reveal Good Omens Easter Egg | CBR

A behind-the-scenes photo from the limited series adaptation of Anansi Boys teased a possible Easter egg connection to another Prime Video series based on author Neil Gaiman’s work.

The photo, taken by Stuart Arnott and shared on Tumblr, was taken along Canning Street in Edinburgh, Scotland. The photo shows a London double-decker bus with an ad for a West End “bullet catch” stage show which seems to star Michael Sheen, who portrays the angel Aziraphale on Good Omens. Gaiman responded to the photo with confirmation that Anansi Boys will have “at least one” Good Omens Easter egg.

While Good Omens officially wrapped filming on Season 2 in March 2022. Anansi Boys, on the other hand, recently added two new actors to its growing cast, with Amarah-Jae St. Aubyn and Grace Saif cast as female leads Rosie Noah and Detective Constable Daisy Day, respectively, in the adaptation of Gaiman’s 2005 novel.

Anansi Boys tells the story of “Fat” Charlie Nancy, a seemingly-normal Londoner with a boring life who discovers his embarrassing, estranged and recently-deceased father was actually Anansi, the African trickster god of stories. At the same time, Charlie also learns of his twin brother, Spider, who inherited their father’s godly powers and penchant for mischief. Spider drags Charlie into a dangerous and mystical adventure delving into gods and legacy.

Anansi Boys is a spinoff/sequel of Gaiman’s novel American Gods, which prominently featured Anansi as one of the various deities assisting protagonist Shadow Moon. While the Starz television adaptation of American Gods featured Orlando Jones as Anansi, aka. Mr. Nancy, Anansi Boys has cast Delroy Lindo in the role.

Anansi Boys received a six-episode series order from Prime Video in July 2021, with no current plans for additional seasons. “Anansi Boys began around 1996, from a conversation I had with Lenny Henry about writing a story that was diverse and part of the culture that we both loved,” Gaiman said when the show was first announced. “Anansi Boys as a TV series has been a long time coming — I first started working with Endor and Red on making it over a decade ago… We are trying to make a new kind of show with Anansi Boys, and to break ground with it to make something that celebrates and rejoices in diversity both in front of and behind the camera. I’m so thrilled it’s happening and that people will be meeting Mr. Nancy, Charlie and Spider, the Bird Woman and the rest of them.”

Anansi Boys, as well as the second season of Good Omens, are set to stream on Prime Video and do not yet have release dates.
