The Batman comic series has been going strong for just over 80 years. Fans have fallen in love with Bruce Wayne, the tragic orphan who donned the mantle of Batman to fight back against the criminal underworld that robbed him of his parents. At times, he seems lonely but he is capable of meaningful human connections.
Bruce Wayne/Batman doesn’t have the warmest personality but he still has a good heart and he greatly values his allies and friends, however few they might be. He views Alfred Pennyworth as a substitute father and has a tricky romantic connection with Selina Kyle/Catwoman, too. Given the chance, Bruce could make a few new friends from other franchises, including the world of Japanese animation.
10 Hatori Sohma Is Serious But Caring (Fruits Basket)
Hatori Sohma embodies the dragon of the Chinese zodiac, though he turns into a seahorse when someone hugs him. More importantly, Hatori is known for his calm and serious personality, and he doesn’t tolerate the nonsense of troublemakers like Shigure or Ayame.
As a physician, Hatori is kind and caring to others, even if he hides those warm feelings behind his stern and aloof exterior. If he lived in Gotham, Batman would recognize him as a great guy and someone worth getting to know better.
9 Soichiro Yagami Is Like Commissioner Gordon (Death Note)
The by-the-book NPA chief Soichiro Yagami is Death Note‘s version of Commissioner James Gordon, though Soichiro has less tolerance for caped vigilantes and reckless wannabe heroes. Soichiro wouldn’t like Batman that much, but he and Bruce Wayne would certainly get along.
If Soichiro was a Gotham police officer, he and Bruce Wayne could easily become friends or at least get along cordially. They share a strong desire to see justice served and protect the innocent, even if Bruce’s alter ego is too brutal for Soichiro’s tastes.
8 Joichiro Yukihira Is Smart, Cool, And Loves His Family (Food Wars!)
Joichiro Yukihira is a master chef who has toured the world to explore new ingredients and recipe ideas, which makes his cooking style remarkably deep and diverse when compared to more specialized chefs. He also taught his son Soma that love is the secret ingredient in cooking.
Cooking for a friend or loved one allows a chef to reach their true potential, and Soichiro is a loving father and husband who inspires everyone around him. If he were hired as Wayne Manor’s private chef, he and Bruce would get along great and Bruce would approve of Joichiro’s paternal warmth. It would remind Bruce of what he once had with his father.
7 Bruce Wayne Would Find Hawks Refreshing (My Hero Academia)
For the most part, Bruce Wayne would rather befriend calm and mature people like him, but he wouldn’t mind making friends with a few bright-eyed people like Hawks. Hawks would almost be like an energetic younger brother to Bruce, and they would have plenty to talk about.
Hawks is a serious and tough hero but he is also cheerful and optimistic. This would be refreshing for Bruce Wayne, who could really use a friend who puts a little sunshine in everyone’s day. Hawks is a winged hero, like Batman, but he’s hardly a brooding antihero.
6 Mr. Yoshimura Is The New Alfred (Tokyo Ghoul)
Mr. Yoshimura is almost Ken Kaneki’s own Alfred Pennyworth, a kind but tough old man who runs a peaceful cafe where humans and ghouls can get along. In Mr. Yoshimura’s eyes, peace and tolerance trump violence and hate, though he’s not exactly a pacifist. He will fight if he must.
Bruce would visit the Anteiku cafe, and he’d get an excellent first impression of the kind old man who runs it. He would give Mr. Yoshimura his compliments and they could chat about their dreams of restoring peace in the streets.
5 Uncle Iroh Is Also Like Alfred (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
Bruce Wayne needs Alfred to act as the voice of reason and keep his inner darkness in check, and something similar would happen if Bruce ever met the retired general Iroh of the Fire Nation. Iroh was once a conqueror, but now he is a kind and wise fellow who seeks to uplift others.
If Iroh’s tea shop were set up in Gotham, or if Bruce ever visited the massive Ba Sing Se, Bruce would appreciate a cup of jasmine tea and ask to meet Iroh to pay him a few compliments. Iroh would then recognize Bruce as a troubled but good-hearted man and befriend him at once, and vice versa.
4 Bruce Could Use Akitaru Obi’s Help (Fire Force)
In many ways, the fire soldier Akitaru Obi is the Batman of Fire Force, a powerful and well-trained hero who can take on any foe without the benefit of supernatural powers. Akitaru only needs his fitness and equipment to save the day, which gives him and Batman something in common.
Bruce Wayne and Akitaru would recognize one another as kindred spirits if they ever crossed paths, and they might even fight together to help clean up Gotham’s streets. Like Bruce, Akitaru is a good-hearted but tough fellow who puts duty first and won’t rest until peace is restored.
3 Harumi Takeda Puts Others First (My Senpai Is Annoying)
In the josei anime series My Senpai Is Annoying, Harumi Takeda worked for a modest company in Tokyo. In an alternate universe, he could find work at Wayne Enterprises Inc and would do a fine job to help keep the Wayne family business going strong. He’s a model employee in every way.
It’s unlikely that Bruce has met all of his employees but if he greeted Harumi Takeda as the newest employee, he’d get a good impression. Harumi has a strong and kind heart, and he is highly protective of his co-workers. Bruce wouldn’t mind getting to know him better during a power lunch.
2 King Gazel Dwargo Is Tough But Fair (That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime)
Batman’s home may be Gotham City but if he went on an isekai adventure, he would need a friend and ally like King Gazel Dwargo of the Armed Nation of Dwargon. Rimuru Tempest, for example, easily befriended Gazel, who generously coached Rimuru on the ways of statecraft.
Isekai Batman needs friends and like Rimuru, he would recognize Gazel Dwargo is a smart, fair, and pragmatic king who would serve as a vital ally. Bruce would have great respect for Gazel as a person and as a king, and Gazel would have a good impression of Bruce.
1 Joseph Joestar Is Easy To Get Along With (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)
Joseph Joestar was a wild protagonist in the Battle Tendency story arc, but he matured a great deal after that. In the Stardust Crusaders story arc, he is still a charming and imaginative person but he has far more dignity than in his younger days.
Joseph is a caring, tough, smart, and loyal person, which are all values that Bruce holds dear. Joseph can befriend practically anyone, such as the Egyptian fortune-teller Muhammad Avdol and Robert Speedwagon. If Bruce ever got his own Stand, he’d go to Joseph for help and become his ally and friend.
