10 Anime Villains Who Would Be Jonin Level Ninja | CBR

Every powerful hero has an equally powerful villain and Naruto is no exception to this rule. The story wouldn’t be interesting if jonin level shinobi were able to defeat everyone they came across, so it only makes sense for there to be just as many jonin level villains.

The same is true for other anime series, especially shonen anime. For every strong hero who can be considered a jonin in power, there’s a villain who’s just as strong. These villains may not have all the qualifications to be a true jonin, but they are certainly jonin when it comes to the power they possess.

10 Shishio Is A Bloodthirsty Monster (Rurouni Kenshin)

It’s hard to believe Shishio is covered in terrible burns from head to toe considering how fierce he is as a swordsman. His abilities are unmatched by nearly everyone and he’s even able to stop Kenshin’s Ryushosen attack with his fingers.

What makes Shishio even scarier is the fact he isn’t just strong. He has an unhinged bloodthirst and he’ll sacrifice anyone to quench it, even the person who he supposedly loves. It’s no wonder he is the ultimate villain in Rurouni Kenshin because it would have been impossible for the series to top someone like him.

9 Zeke Is The Deadliest Titan (Attack On Titan)

Zeke Jaeger's Beast Titan arrive sin Shiganshina in Attack on Titan

Zeke is a terrifying opponent from the moment he appears. Not only is he immediately shown to be incredibly intelligent and strong but his introduction as the first talking Titan also completely shocked fans. All of the Titans are terrifying in their own way but Zeke’s ability to turn people into Titans makes him much deadlier than the others.

Plus, his method of attack is nearly impossible to counter. The Scouts are lucky to have a man like Levi because no one else could have possibly stopped Zeke during their mission to close wall Maria. In fact, the only reason anyone survives that mission is because Levi is just as dangerous as Zeke.

8 Rui Came The Closest To Killing The Protagonist (Demon Slayer)

Rui looks downwards

As a member of the Twelve Kizuki, Rui really shows how strong demons can be. It’s hard to believe he is only a lower rank considering all the Demon Slayers he’s killed, but then again, the upper-rank demons are more like Kage in terms of power.

Rui may not appear all that strong but he’s actually one of the most ruthless demons Tanjiro fights in the first season of Demon Slayer. His Blood Demon Art is nearly impossible to defend against and his enhanced durability makes him an even tougher opponent. If Tanjiro hadn’t unlocked sun breathing during their fight, he and Nezuko would have certainly died.

7 Queen Beryl Is The World’s Deadliest Sorcerer (Sailor Moon)

Queen Beryl chuckles mockingly

As a powerful sorcerer and the main antagonist for a large chunk of the series, Queen Beryl is responsible for most of the events in Sailor Moon. Even the fall of the Moon and Earth kingdoms happens because she betrays Prince Endymion by killing him. She may not be physically strong but as a sorcerer, she is completely unmatched.

She is the strongest person in the Negaverse and she can easily use her spells to turn people into stone or trap them in eternal sleep. Getting attacked by a bloodthirsty swordsman almost seems like a preferable option to having to deal with what she can do.

6 Ulquiorra Proves To Ichigo That He Isn’t Weak (Bleach)

Ulquiorra looks down

The fact that fans are shocked when Ulquiorra reveals himself to be the fourth Espada just shows how powerful he is. He’s able to stop Grimmjow from fighting without breaking a sweat and it’s clear from Grimmjow’s actions that Ulquiorra is someone who should be feared.

Ichigo is foolish enough to think that being the fourth Espada makes Ulquiorra weak but he definitely proves Ichigo wrong by giving Ichigo a sound beating. In fact, if Ichigo didn’t have his Hollow powers to rely on, he definitely would have died during their battle.

5 Shigaraki Was Underestimated By The Heroes (My Hero Academia)

shigaraki downcast from my hero academia

Shigaraki isn’t all that threatening when he’s first introduced. All Might even likens him to a man child. Despite outward appearances, Shigaraki is a lot stronger than most would think. Not only is he able to rally villains behind his cause but his Quirk is incredibly deadly.

Aizawa is lucky to have only lost a part of his elbow during his fight with Shigaraki, considering others have been killed by a single touch. It’s unfortunate that most of the heroes underestimated Shigaraki’s power early on. If they’d done more to eliminate him as a threat, they could have prevented him from becoming even stronger.

4 Lust Is A Deadly Spy (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood)

Lust may have been one of the first Homunculi to fall to the heroes but that certainly isn’t because she’s weak. Without Mustang’s fire abilities, they probably would have never stopped her. She’s basically immortal and can also heal instantly from any attack.

On top of that, she literally has a set of knives at her fingertips and she can be incredibly precise with them when she wants to be. What makes her even more deadly than the other Homunculi is her ability to blend in. On several occasions, she’s able to spy on the heroes and gained valuable information from them.

3 Younger Toguro Commands Respect (Yu Yu Hakusho)

Toguro is the best villain in Yu Yu Hakusho and that’s mainly because of how terrifying he is. His power is so immense, it seemed impossible that Yusuke could beat him. Unlike other villains, Toguro doesn’t have to flex his power.

His appearance alone is able to quiet an entire stadium of demons, which makes sense considering what they’ve seen him do. Even the strongest jonin level characters should think twice when it comes to fighting someone like Toguro because it’s likely he’ll kill them before they can even blink.

2 Crocodile Is The Best Sand User (One Piece)

Crocodile

Crocodile is a character that fits perfectly in the Naruto universe considering his ability to control sand. However, it might be more accurate to say he literally is sand since he can actually turn into sand, not just control it.

With this ability, he can protect himself from any injury, including Luffy’s monstrous punches. His Gum-Gum Fruit powers are bad enough but he’s also incredibly strong, fast, and has a lot of stamina. It’s no wonder Luffy barely survives a fight with him.

1 Caster Is The Strongest Servant (Fate/Zero)

Caster from the anime Fate/Zero

Not only is Caster strong but he’s also a complete monster who lacks all regard for human life. With his serial killer master by his side, they wreak havoc on the civilian populous, and the Fourth Grail War is even put on hold because of their actions.

However, Caster proves to be a formidable opponent and it takes the combined strength of all the other servants to stop him. Saber even has to use her anti-fortress Noble Phantasm to stop him, which just shows how strong he is.
