Elden Ring‘s immersive open world brilliantly uses natural signposts, such as intriguing buildings and sites of grace, to guide players without the need for in-game quest logs and menus. However, this lack of handholding does mean that players are left to figure things out for themselves, which can prove tricky given the game’s huge expanse. The Grand Lift of Dectus, and the relevant halves of the Dectus medallion, are perfect examples of this player-led problem-solving.
The Tarnished can come across these things with very few hints as to how to use them or what they do. Similarly, players who have just defeated Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon may be wondering where else they can go if they are struggling to defeat the next mainline boss: Starscourge Radahn. The answers lie to the north of the Raya Lucaria Academy.
Where Is The Grand Lift Of Dectus In Elden Ring?
The Grand Lift of Dectus can be found at the very north end of Bellum Highway in Liurnia of the Lakes. After unlocking the Raya Lucaria Academy gates, players can activate the seal to the bridge heading north. This will teleport them onto Bellum Highway. The Tower of Dectus, which houses the lift, is at the end of this road.
Once activated, the Grand Lift of Dectus will transport players to a new area of the map: the Altus Plateau. In the center of this new area is Leyndell, Royal Capital, a late-game legacy dungeon. There are plenty of bosses, items, smaller dungeons and Sites of Grace around, so players will have plenty to do upon their arrival. However, players must find both halves of the Dectus Medallion and activate the Grand Lift first.
Where To Find The Left Half Of The Dectus Medallion In Elden Ring
The left half of the Dectus Medallion can be found relatively early on in the game. It’s located in Fort Haight in Eastern Limgrave. To find it, players should go immediately east from the starting area, continuing past the Waypoint Ruins until they reach the Fort Haight West Site of Grace.
Upon entering the fort, players will find that it’s been overrun with enemies. Clearing these foes is also part of a side quest that can be triggered by speaking with an NPC, Kenneth Haight, who can be found to the north of the Mistwood Outskirts. Once the fort is secured, players simply need to climb the courtyard stairs that lead to a tower with a ladder inside. The left half of the Dectus Medallion is inside a chest at the top of this ladder.
Where To Find The Right Half Of The Dectus Medallion In Elden Ring
The right half of the Dectus Medallion is found in Fort Faroth, on the eastern side of Caelid. Although players can get there from the start of the game, the enemies are much tougher, so leveling up is strongly advised. The quickest route to Fort Faroth for players who have yet to explore Caelid is through Limgrave’s Dragon-Burnt Ruins. At the end of these catacombs is a chest, which upon opening, will ensnare players in a teleportation trap to the Sellia Crystal Tunnel in Caelid. From here, players can either battle their way downwards and out, or simply run past enemies to reach the tunnel’s Site of Grace. The Tarnished must then go east after exiting these tunnels until they reach Fort Faroth, resting at its Site of Grace.
The right half of the Dectus Medallion is easily obtained from here. Players need to go up the stairs from the Site of Grace and turn left once inside the fort. Going straight through the room filled with bat-like enemies will bring players to a ladder, which they must then climb. The second part of the Dectus Medallion is in a chest at the top. The enemies inside can be pretty tough, as they spout poison which can quickly sap the health of an unprepared player. Equipping items and armor to improve immunity will help players to fight or run their way with much more ease.
Once the player has both halves on the Dectus Medallion, they should simply fast travel back to the Grand Lift of Dectus Site of Grace. There, players will now have the option to raise the medallion when standing on the circle in front of the two statues. This will activate the lift, setting the Tarnished off on their next adventure in Altus Plateau.
