Deadpool 3 Director is Determined to Work With Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds

The upcoming Deadpool 3 will presumably bring the Merc with a Mouth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with actor Ryan Reynolds reprising the role. That is one half of a duo director Shawn Levy is determined to work with.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Levy, who has a long history with both Reynolds and actor Hugh Jackman, was asked when he would be working with both of them on a single film. The director stated, “I’m not going to say where and how, but I absolutely will confirm my intention and determination to be the lucky son of a ***** who puts those two magnificent gods in the same movie together. That will happen and that will be me.”

Levy was only recently announced as the director for Deadpool 3, which has seen very few announcements since it was confirmed to be a part of the MCU. Alongside him are Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who will write the script. It’s unknown if any of Reynolds’ fellow cast members from Deadpool and Deadpool 2 will return for the third instalment in the former Fox trilogy.

Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige confirmed in January 2021 that Deadpool would be brought into the MCU. More than that, the MCU head assured audiences that Deadpool 3 will be rated R. Feige stated at the time that the script was in the works and, though it would be a while before filming begins, “It’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”

Some have speculated that Deadpool, among other former X-Men characters, might appear in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Speculation began when several fans seemingly spotted the mutant mercenary in the background of one of the Doctor Strange sequel’s posters. Reynolds himself recently responded to the rumors, claiming, “I’m really not in the movie… I’m promising, I’m not in the movie.”

It’s unknown when Deadpool 3 will begin filming, though Reynolds previously speculated it will begin filming in 2022. Earlier in 2021, he said, “I’d say it’s 50/50 maybe? We’re really actively developing it and getting it into pretty good shape,” the actor said. “What the hell month is it? August? Oh, next year? Probably pretty damn good. I’d say 70%.”

Deadpool 3 does not yet have a release date.
