Peacock announced the return of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air‘s Daphne Maxwell Reid and Vernee Watson-Johnson, set to guest star in the reboot series, Bel-Air.
The pair will appear in the upcoming ninth episode, set to air on March 24, though not as their original characters. Reid, who played Aunt Viv, and Vernee Watson-Johnson, who played Viola “Vy” Smith, will appear in Bel-Air as Helen and Janice, members of the Art Council Board of Trustee.
Bel-Air is executive produced by Will Smith and reimagines the original show’s world, as well as Will’s complex journey. Driving the show’s take on the original story and characters is a focus on the current zeitgeist. Bel-Air stars Jabari Banks as Will and a creative team that includes Cooper, who serves as director, co-writer, and executive producer, and co-showrunners and executive producers T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson.

“Set in modern-day America, Peacock’s new one-hour drama series Bel-Air imagines the beloved sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air through a new, dramatic take on Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known.”
