DC’s Zombie Saga Concludes In DCeased 3 | CBR

DCeased writer Tom Taylor is heralding the end of his DC zombie saga.

On Twitter, Taylor officially announced DCeased 3 — stylized as DCEAS3D — which bears the tagline, “Every story has an end.” Taylor accompanied the announcement with an apparent quote from the upcoming comic, which reads, “This is not just survival. This is more.”

In response to the announcement, fellow comic book writer Gail Simone jokingly replied, “Dammit, Tom, are you killing everyone AGAIN? THEY NEED A VACATION! That’s it, blood feud back on. Also, I’ma read this book.” Taylor responded, “Instead of a vacation, what if they took a really long nap?”

Created by Taylor, the DCeased saga takes place in an alternate version of the DC Universe where a corrupted version of the Anti-Life Equation has resulted in a widespread zombie outbreak, with numerous iconic characters being infected. The original DCeased was a six-part limited series written by Taylor, penciled by Trevor Hairsine, inked by Stefano Gaudiano and James Harren, colored by Rain Beredo and lettered by Ken Lopez. It ran from May 2019 to October 2019.

DCeased received a sequel in the form of the seven-part limited series DCeased: Dead Planet, written by Taylor, penciled by Hairsine, inked by Gigi Baldassini and Gaudiano, colored by Beredo and lettered by Saida Temofonte. Dead Planet ran from July 2020 to January 2021. There are also a number of spinoffs, including the one-shot DCeased: A Good Day to Die (July 2019), the three-part limited series DCeased: Unkillables (February 2020-May 2020) and the 15-part digital-first anthology series DCeased: Hope at World’s End (May 2020-December 2020).

Judging by Taylor’s tweet, DCeased 3 will be the final installment in the main DCeased saga, serving as a follow-up to Dead Planet.
