Many Marvel Cinematic Universe fans firmly believe Deadpool will appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and one creative individual has fueled their conviction into an incredible piece of fan art.
The fan poster sees the Merc with a Mouth wearing Wanda Maximoff’s superhero costume and shows the actual Scarlet Witch tied up in the background with duct tape over her mouth. “So Ryan Reynolds recently said that Deadpool will not be in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness…….Sure ……Suuuuuuuuuure….” the caption reads. “Do you believe him? I dont…and that’s why I made a poster for that occasion. Enjoy!”
Speculation about Deadpool’s possible role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been making the rounds recently. Actor Ryan Reynolds finally responded to the rumors about his character, stating, “I’m really not in the movie.” However, most fans aren’t buying it; several have pointed to Andrew Garfield’s similar denials into the buildup to Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s release as evidence that the Deadpool actor is probably lying.
Deadpool isn’t the only character from Marvel Comics that superhero fans are convinced will soon be making their MCU debut. Since the release of the most recent trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, many have become adamant that Charles Xavier will appear in the movie. When asked about the trailer and a potential appearance, Patrick Stewart, who played Professor X in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men film franchise, simply responded, “Who’s Doctor Strange?”
While Charles Xavier and Deadpool have yet to be officially confirmed for the upcoming movie, several other characters have been; Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Karl Mordo, who appeared as a mentor to the titular sorcerer in the first Doctor Strange film, will be one of the story’s antagonists. He is joined by Gargantos, an obscure, squid-like Lovecraftian abomination who debuted in the comics in Roy Thomas and Marie Severin’s Sub-Mariner #13 in 1969.
The most recent trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness also showcased a horrifying, multi-armed zombie version of the titular character. The first depiction of a zombified Doctor Strange appeared in the MCU in the animated Disney+ series What If…?. While it is not currently clear if the trailer’s zombie sorcerer is the same one that appeared in the show’s fifth episode, the inclusion suggests the animated series is more important to the overall story of the MCU than one might initially expect.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness portals into theaters on May 6.
