Toy developer NECA unveiled images and details for upcoming figures in its line of action figures for Disney’s animated series, Gargoyles.
Revealed during the 2022 Toy Fair, the new figures include Lexington, Brooklyn and Broadway, though exact details about these figures have not yet been revealed by NECA. However, the line will also include a highly detailed, fully-articulated Hudson action figure, which will come with poseable wings, a bendy wired tail, an extra set of hands, weapon storage and an interchangeable roaring head. Exact details and preorder availability for all four Gargoyles figures have not yet been revealed.
Earlier this year, NECA provided a sneak peek of these upcoming figures, with these recently released images being the latest development in the toy developer’s line of figures based on Gargoyles characters. Goliath was the first figure in the line to be revealed, and details surrounding the Demona, Bronx and the Ultimate Thailog figures were initially revealed as part of NECA Toys’ 31 Nights of Fright event in October. More details for these figures will be available in spring 2022.
NECA released its Ultimate Goliath action figure in March 2021, which is now available to purchase for $32.99. While Goliath comes with expanded wings, fans looking for some variety can purchase the Bronx figure for the draped wings and other accessories. Following Ultimate Goliath’s positive reception, NECA announced five more Gargoyles figures, with additional figures to come. “The response to GARGOYLES & Goliath is nothing short of phenomenal,” NECA wrote at the time. “I want to confirm the following: This is a full line – we have 5 more figures completed and more in development.”
Gargoyles began as an animated series that ran for three seasons from 1994 to 1997 and followed a species of nocturnal creatures known as gargoyles that turned to stone during the day and protected the city at night. The series focused on the Manhattan Clan, which included their leader Goliath, Brooklyn, Lexington, Broadway, Bronx and Hudson. A video game adaptation and a spinoff comic series were released in 1995. The show’s storyline continued in a comic book series of the same title by Slave Labor Graphics, which was published from 2006 to 2009. On top of that, a board game called Gargoyles: Awakening was announced by Ravensburger in 2021, which is available exclusively at Target.
Created by Greg Weisman, all three seasons of Gargoyles are currently available to watch on Disney+.
