WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Peacemaker‘s Season 1 finale, “It’s Cow or Never,” now streaming on HBO Max.
Season 1 of Peacemaker found Chris hating on the Justice League whenever he could, reaffirming he was even more obnoxious than in The Suicide Squad. He denigrated Batman early on in the series, while also taking shots at Superman, as well as the Flash. He kept it cool with Wonder Woman, although his words were still a bit sexist.
The biggest insult, however, came when he claimed Aquaman had sex with fish, paying off aquariums for intimate time backstage. It was truly immature behavior, with Peacemaker adamant these were secrets the world should know. However, while they were unconfirmed rumors, there’s one new, dark secret that seems to be true involving Green Arrow.
The secret was revealed when Peacemaker was strategizing with the team at Coverdale Farm, trying to figure out how to launch a sonic-boom helmet into the warehouse where the Butterflies had their “cow” (aka their food source). It was suggested they use an arrow to shoot a zipline over the fence, with Vigilante asking, “Like Green Arrow?”
On cue, Peacemaker angrily replied, “No, not like Green Arrow. That dude goes to Brony conventions dressed as the back half of Twilight Sparkle with a four-inch wide butthole drilled in the costume.” It fit the nasty comments he’s been making about heroes and vigilantes, stemming from jealousy over the public viewing him as a jerk in the HBO Max original series. However, fellow A.R.G.U.S. agent Economos shockingly backed him up when Vigilante suggested maybe it’s to breathe properly and Adebayo deemed Chris’ words ludicrous. “No, I actually heard that’s true about Green Arrow,” Economos contended, “But that’s the first thing [Peacemaker] said that’s real.”
Given that Economos is a computer expert and data analyst who’s in touch with rumors, dispelling some of Chris’ unsubstantiated claims in the past, it’s a bombshell he firmly believes is real. Granted, it’s not insulting to be a “brony” — aka a guy who likes My Little Pony — or someone who cosplays as Twilight Sparkle from the popular kids franchise.
But Economos, who doesn’t display the male fragility or toxic traits of Chris, does seem a bit disturbed about what Oliver Queen does when in cosplay mode, hinting it might be more perverse. It feels like a cosplay fetish, which fans would really have liked Economos to provide evidence for after confidently corroborating what Peacemaker stated.
Admittedly, the guys were busy with the Butterfly war to come, so maybe in Season 2, this could be expanded upon. Black Canary is lined up for her own HBO Max movie after her badass Birds of Prey stint, so hopefully the Emerald Archer shows up there to clarify this and clear his good name once and for all.
All eight episodes in Season 1 of Peacemaker are now streaming on HBO Max.
