Ultra Rare Uncut Sheet of First-Edition Pokémon Cards Up for Auction

An ultra-rare uncut sheet of first-edition Pokémon cards is now up for auction.

The sheet itself is comprised of 99 individual Pokémon cards, including all 16 holographic versions that appeared in the collectible card game’s first set. The price of the item currently sits at $34,000 at the time of writing and is expected to climb even higher before the auction comes to a close on Feb. 24. Auctioneer Goldin notes in the description that the quality of the sheet is “good,” specifying that it has “some scuffing on the surface and general fading of the front of sheet as a whole.” While the auction of these classic cards is exciting in its own right, the fact that they are a part of an uncut sheet is remarkably rare.

Goldin also notes that the sheet includes black marker handwriting which reads, “Okay for color [and] fit 11-30-98 7:25 A.M.” with a signature. It’s currently unknown who signed the sheet but fans speculate it to be a quality assurance employee marking the cards as appropriate to sell.
