Ahsoka’s Rosario Dawson Confirms a Fan-Favorite Star Wars Character’s Fate

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Book of Boba FettChapter 7: In the Name of Honor,” streaming now on Disney+.

After The Book of Boba Fett, it seems unlikely that Ahsoka will give its titular former-Jedi a reunion with Cad Bane and that saddens Rosario Dawson.

On Twitter, Dawson lamented Bane’s fate, seemingly confirming that Bane did die after his battle with Boba Fett on Tatooine. This remark serves as a follow up to a previous Tweet Dawson wrote in praise of Bane’s look, describing herself as “mesmerized” and writing, “Loved seeing this character live action finally. I hope we get to… ‘work’ together…!”

Like Ahsoka, Cad Bane is an original Star Wars: The Clone Wars character who, after debuting in the show’s Season 1 finale, became one of its most popular reoccurring antagonists. Ahsoka and Bane met for the first time during Season 2’s opening three-part arc, in which Ahsoka and Anakin tried to apprehend the bounty hunter for stealing a Jedi holocron containing the names of Force-sensitive children. They would cross paths again in Season 4’s “Friends and Enemies,” with Anakin and Ahsoka tracking down Bane alongside a bounty hunter they believed to have killed Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Bane made his live-action debut in The Book of Boba Fett‘s “Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger,” challenging and defeating Cobb Vanth in a duel for his willingness to interfere with the Pyke Syndicate’s operations. The same episode also featured Dawson’s second appearance as live-action Ahsoka since The Mandalorian Season 2, as well as her first on-screen interaction with Luke Skywalker. While Ahsoka‘s chronological relation to The Book of Boba Fett remains unknown, it will feature a number of live-action versions of Dave Filoni’s Star Wars Rebels characters. These include Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mena Massoud as Ezra Bridger and Lars Mikkelsen reprising his role as Grand Admiral Thrawn, the last two seemingly confirmed by reports shared by Dawson last year. Ahsoka is currently set to begin filming sometime in April.

Prior to The Book of Boba Fett, it was left ambiguous whether Bane managed to live through Star Wars‘ Imperial era. One of The Clone Wars‘ unfinished storylines would have seen him mentor a young Fett (Daniel Logan), only for the two to get into a duel by the arc’s end, with Fett emerging victorious. However, Bane later returned in two episodes of 2021’s The Bad Batch, confirming that he survived past the events of Revenge of the Sith.

The Book of Boba Fett is currently streaming on Disney+. No release date for Ahsoka has yet been announced.
