The Owl House Season 2 is officially returning with new episodes in March.
Series creator Dana Terrace confirmed on Twitter that The Owl House is set to return to Disney Channel on Saturday, March 19 — the same day Matt Braly’s Amphibia returns with new episodes of its own. The Owl House Season 2 has been on hiatus since August, with fans having eagerly awaited its return ever since.
The Owl House initially premiered on Disney Channel on Jan. 10, 2020. Season 1 ran for a total of 19 episodes, concluding on Aug. 29, 2020. Season 2 then premiered on June 12, 2021. The Owl House Season 2 is slated to run for 21 episodes in total, with the first 10 airing through Aug. 14, 2021 as “Season 2A.” Thanks to Terrace’s tweet, we now know that Season 2B will finally hit screens in a little over one month’s time. Season 2 will be followed by The Owl House‘s third and final season, which will consist of three 44-minute specials.
The Owl House follows Luz Noceda (Sarah-Nicole Robles), a teenage girl with an affinity for fantasy novels and weirding out her classmates. Luz’s mother Camila (Elizabeth Grullon) attempts to send her to a camp to make her more “normal,” though Luz instead stumbles upon a portal that transports her to a magical archipelago known as the Boiling Isles. Upon her arrival, Luz moves in with a powerful witch named Eda Clawthorne (Wendie Malick) and her demon roommate King (Alex Hirsch). Eda, King and Luz live in the Owl House, which is guarded by the house demon known as Hooty (Hirsch).
Despite being a human with no innate magical abilities, Luz is determined to become a witch herself. She is first mentored by Eda before enrolling at Hexside School of Magic and Demonics. Luz attends Hexside with her friends Willow Park (Tati Gabrielle) and Gus Porter (Issac Ryan Brown), as well as her rival turned girlfriend Amity Blight (Mae Whitman).
Following the climactic Season 1 finale, The Owl House Season 2A rejoined Luz, who was left unable to return to the human realm. The mid-season finale, “Yesterday’s Lie,” concluded with Camila finally learning the truth about where her daughter has been all this time. Back in the demon realm, Luz and company have had to content with the nefarious plans of Emperor Belos (Matthew Rhys) and his loyal foot soldier Hunter (Zeno Robinson), whose allegiance has seemingly begun to falter.
The Owl House Season 2B premieres March 19 on Disney Channel. Seasons 1 and 2A are currently streaming on Disney+.
