DC Teaser Offers New Glimpses at Black Adam, The Flash and More

DC has shared a brief promotional video for some of its upcoming feature films, offering lightning-quick new glimpses at films like Black Adam and The Flash.

“2022 is the year of heroes,” DC wrote on Twitter, sharing a seven-second video meant to advertise Black Adam and The Flash, as well as The Batman and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. It features short sneak peeks at the first three films, showing Batman (Robert Pattinson) holding a road flare, a hooded Black Adam (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) sporting his super suit and a close-up look at Barry Allen’s (Ezra Miller) new Flash costume. Evidently, DC isn’t ready to show off any footage from Lost Kingdom just yet, as the son of Atlan is instead represented by a reused clip from 2018’s Aquaman. (This is unsurprising, as Lost Kingdom only wrapped production one month ago.)

First up on Warner Bros. and DC’s 2022 feature film release slate is The Batman, which is set to hit theaters on March 4. The film stars Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson and Paul Dano as the Riddler.

While The Batman is a standalone film, the DC Extended Universe is slated to continue on July 29 with the release of Black Adam, a spinoff of 2019’s Shazam!. The film stars Johnson as Teth-Adam/Black Adam, the errant champion of the wizard Shazam. Johnson is joined by Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate.

The DCEU has two more theatrical releases scheduled for this year in the form of The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the former of which is set for release on Nov. 4. The Flash stars Ezra Miller, who reprises their role as Barry Allen, and Kiersey Clemons, who reprises her role as Iris West. The film also stars Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen (taking over for Billy Crudup) and Sasha Calle as Supergirl. Moreover, Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton are slated to reprise their respective versions of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Meanwhile, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is scheduled for release on Dec. 16. The sequel to 2018’s Aquaman, the film sees Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Dolph Lundgren, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, Nicole Kidman and Randall Park reprise their roles as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Mera, King Nereus, Nuidis Vulko, Orm Marius/Ocean Master, David Kane/Black Manta, Thomas Curry, Atlanna and Dr. Stephen Shin, respectively. The film also stars Vincent Regan as Atlan, Jani Zhao as Stingray, Indya Moore as Karshon and Pilou Asbæk in an undisclosed role.

Two additional DC films are slated for release this year. The animated feature DC League of Super-Pets is due to hit theaters on May 20, while the DCEU-set live-action film Batgirl will premiere exclusively on HBO Max on a still-undisclosed date. In other words, DC seems to mean it when it calls 2022 “the year of heroes.”
