Following Supergirl‘s ending, many fans believe its characters should remain firmly grounded in the Arrowverse. But there are still more stories to tell with these characters and not everyone can get their own spin-off. So what better way to bring them back than having them join the Waverider’s crew?
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has introduced several original characters, but its cast is also full of recycled heroes and villains from other Arrowverse series. Team leader Sara Lance started as an assassin in Arrow while Leonard Snart is a former Flash villain. Legends of Tomorrow’s chaotic nature makes it the perfect show to embrace Supergirl characters whose time in the Arrowverse have been cut short.
10 Andrea Deserves A Better Story
Andrea Rojas joined Supergirl in the fifth season as the Obsidian North CEO. She’s a billionaire with the ability to control shadows thanks to her Acrata medallion. Her day-to-day persona wasn’t a villain per se, but she worked as an assassin for the criminal organization Leviathan in secret.
Andrea’s story got off to a good start in Supergirl, but her character development was completely forgotten after the Crisis on Infinite Earths event and she was relegated to being CatCo’s editor-in-chief. She kept her shadow powers and just never used them. Cat Grant returned to CatCo in the season finale, leaving Andrea jobless and ready to join the crew of the Waverider in Legends of Tomorrow.
9 Psi Could Go From Villain To Hero
Gayle “Psi” Marsh first appeared in Supergirl as a one-episode villain with the psychic ability to submit people to their worst fears. She later returned to the series on an improvised team created to defeat Reign. She never wanted to be a hero, but after she saved Supergirl’s life Gayle began to show a change of heart about her villainy.
Psi is a very powerful meta-human with a half-cooked redemption arc, so her story in Supergirl feels incomplete. Fortunately, it could be continued if she joined Legends of Tomorrow in future seasons. This so-called villain with an obvious heart would be a great addition to Sara’s team.
8 The Legends Would Help Manchester Black Heal His Emotional Wounds
Manchester Black is a British man obsessed with getting revenge for his alien fianceé’s murder. He is the leader of the Elite, a vigilante group that opposes anti-alien movements by any means necessary. Manchester’s grief blinds him enough that he becomes a threat to the Super Friends.
Manchester’s story is a sad tale about love and grief, so fans can’t help but wonder how he would approach life if he was able to properly heal. A wholesome team like the Legends could be exactly what Manchester needs to process his trauma properly.
7 The Arrowverse Should Not Forget Nia’s Story
Nia Nal is a Naltorian who works with Kara as a reporter at CatCo. She also acts as her sidekick in battle under the moniker Dreamer. She’s a smart and funny woman who also happens to be the first transgender superhero in the Arrowverse. Her story – a milestone of LGBTQ+ representation for DC TV shows – feels incomplete after the show’s finale, and fans are expecting her to return.
Nia Nal is an ideal candidate to make the jump from Supergirl to Legends of Tomorrow. Her superhero career is practically just starting, and her precognitive abilities would be incredibly useful to the team. Nia also has the right sense of humor and she can be just as random as the rest of the Waverider’s crew.
6 Reign Could Be Redeemed A La Damien Darhk
Reign is a genetically altered Kryptonian who arrived on Earth at almost the same time as Kara to lead the Worldkillers in purifying the planet. She’s the main villain of Supergirl’s third season and one of the few Supergirl villains that presented a real threat to the Girl of Steel.
Reign died in Supergirl, but nothing is forever in the Arrowverse. Reign’s human alter-ego Samantha Arias could easily return to the Arrowverse as a different person, using her powers for good. This kind of redemption arc is not new territory for Legends of Tomorrow. Damien Darhk, for example, went from a cold-blooded killer to a loving father for Nora Darhk.
5 Lena Needs A New Supergroup To Showcase Her Newfound Magic
As Lex Luthor’s sister, Lena is a young woman trying to make a name for herself far from his brother’s reputation. She moves to National City expecting to share her home with Supergirl. The two quickly become friends, and though they share an arc about betrayal they are very close by the end of Supergirl’s run.
Lena discovered she was a witch in Supergirl‘s sixth season, but the series ended almost immediately after this reveal. Fans never got to see her use her magic to its full extent. If Lena were to return on Legends of Tomorrow, it would be the perfect chance for her to display her abilities. Lena is also a genius with several doctoral degrees, making her a valuable asset to any team.
4 Mister Mxyzptlk Should Remain As A Recurrent Arrowverse Character
Originally a somewhat villainous antagonist, Mr. Mxyzptlk — also known as Myx — is a Fifth Dimensional imp who befriends Kara after failing to woo her with his magic. Since he can control the Fifth Dimension’s magic, he’s a powerful ally for the Girl of Steel. Unfortunately, he never appears as a regular in Supergirl.
Myx is a fascinating being whose abilities are beyond compare even in the Arrowverse. It would be a shame if Thomas Lennon never got to reprise his role in the future. Considering Legends of Tomorrow‘s timey-wimey nature, Myx’s reality-bending powers would be a perfect match.
3 Winn Is Already Familiar With The Future
One of the Original Super Friends, Winn Schott started as Kara’s co-worker at CatCo but soon became an ally on her superhero adventures. His run on Supergirl ended when he decided to join the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st century, but his friendship and support for Kara helped her become a superhero.
As a 21st century human living 1000 years later, Winn is no stranger to time travel. He’s one of the smartest characters in Supergirl, and his Legion ring grants him such abilities as flight and telepathy immunity. There’s no doubt he would make a fine addition to the Legends of Tomorrow team.
2 Querl Dox’s Intellect Makes Him The Perfect Addition To The Team
A 12th-level intellect, Querl Dox — aka Brainiac 5 — is a Coluan from the future who stayed in the 21st century as a member of the Super Friends. Brainy, as he is sometimes called, is practically a living computer. Like all Coluans, he’s an organic being capable of accessing and understanding any type of technology.
Brainy’s skillset makes him a natural choice for Legends of Tomorrow. After all, he belongs to a race known for its advanced knowledge. Gwyn Davies, a 20th-century man, is the team’s sole scientist, so they need as much help as possible from someone with more knowledge about technology from the future.
1 Martian Manhunter Could Be A New Father-Like Figure For The Legends
One of the few survivors of the Martian Holocaust, Martian Manhunter is a quiet but wise alien who serves as a paternal figure for the Super Friends. In addition, he’s a powerful warrior with psychic abilities beyond compare.
Since Martian Manhunter is one of the most important DC characters, it wouldn’t be unexpected to see him back in the Arrowverse. He might be a bit too serious for such a tumultuous team, but this would not be the first time Legends of Tomorrow had an older member on the team. The elderly Martin Stein, for instance, spent several seasons with them.
