Uncharted’s Tom Holland Was in Awe of Mark Wahlberg’s Size | CBR

Tom Holland recently admitted he was awestruck by co-star Mark Wahlberg’s size while working with him on the set of the upcoming film Uncharted.

The British actor described Wahlberg as “an absolute unit” in a new interview with GQ. “I saw him walk onto set in his costume and I was like, ‘Fuck, he is twice my size,” Holland recalled. “After the [COVID] lockdown, we had five months off, and I just ate and trained and ate and trained.”

The Spider-Man: No Way Home star added that when he returned to the film’s set, the first thing Wahlberg said to him was, “Wow, somebody has been training.'”

Holland first revealed Wahlberg was inspiring his workout regime back in July 2020, when he posted a shirtless photo of himself standing in front of a mirror and showing off his abs. He captioned the shot, “When working with @markwahlberg you gotta get after it!”

While Holland has yet to reach the physique of his Uncharted co-star, the actor revealed that bulking up has also helped him fill out his Spider-Man suit. Specifically, Holland admitted he wore a muscle suit in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. However, he’s since grown into the Spidey suit, and said, “Now I just have a penis cup.” Elaborating on his decision to focus on his body, the 5-foot-8 actor noted, “I cannot do anything about my height. I can put on more muscle.”

It was previously reported that Holland will portray treasure hunter Nathan Drake alongside Wahlberg’s Victor “Sully” Sullivan in the film adaptation of Uncharted. The project has been in the works since 2008, just one year after the original Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune video game was released on PlayStation 3.

Despite seeing his fair share of action in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Holland teased back in February that the action sequences in Uncharted are “the biggest action sequences [he’s] ever been a part of.” Holland didn’t share any further details, but hinted, “The cuts and bruises and bangs I got from dangling off of wires and falling off of things was ridiculous.” Uncharted was initially supposed to be released in July 2021 but was delayed because of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Holland can next be seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which swings into theaters Dec. 17. Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Uncharted stars Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas and Tati Gabrielle. The film is set to debut in theaters on Feb. 18, 2022.
