Destiny 2: What You Should Do Before Beyond Light Leaves Game Pass

Xbox recently announced that Destiny 2‘s Beyond Light expansion will leave Game Pass on Dec. 8. Beyond Light introduced Guardians to the powers of Darkness by letting players wield a new Stasis subclass. Those who have not already done so will want to complete all of the quests from the Exo Stranger that unlock the full potential of the Shadebinder, Revenant and Behemoth Stasis subclasses. The expansion also includes three exclusive exotics, the Salvation’s Grip, Lost Lament and Eyes of Tomorrow. One of those exotics can only be acquired through the raid Deep Stone Crypt, while the other two are possible to obtain through solo play.

While Beyond Light will no longer be available via Game Pass, players can still purchase the expansion separately. The removal of Beyond Light from Game Pass will coincide with the upcoming release of Bungie’s 30th Anniversary content.

Earn a Stasis Subclass

The main draw of the Beyond Light expansion is its addition of a playable Darkness subclass. Players will want to complete the main quest to unlock a Guardian’s respective Stasis subclass and abilities. Warlocks unlock the Shadebinder subclass, which summons a Stasis staff that can fire projectiles to freeze targets and then shatter frozen targets with a shockwave. Hunters unlock the Revenant subclass, which allows Guardians to throw Stasis ricocheting shurikens or Kama blades to damage and freeze enemies. Titans unlock the Behemoth subclass, which allows Guardians to punch the ground and send out a Stasis shockwave to freeze enemies or punch frozen enemies to shatter them.

Acquire The Salvation’s Grip Exotic Grenade Launcher

Speak to the Drifter to start “The Stasis Prototype” quest. Players will need to complete objectives on Europa, such as defeating a specified number of a certain enemy or tackling new Empire Hunts. Upon completing these tasks, players will reach the final stage of the quest, the Stealing Stasis mission. The Salvation’s Grip exotic grenade launcher is given to Guardians for this mission. While players may have mixed opinions on the usefulness of the weapon itself, the Salvation’s Grip is required to destroy the entropic shards scattered across Europa.

Earn All Stasis Subclass Abilities

While Guardians unlock Stasis by playing the main quest, players have more opportunities afterward to earn upgrades for their Stasis abilities. Speak to the Exo Stranger to begin the “Born In Darkness” quests. Guardians will help the Exo Stranger find and conduct research into the Darkness. By completing various objectives, players will earn new Stasis grenades and one of the two available subclass aspects.

After players finish the final “Born In Darkness” quest, a new quest unlocks via the Exo Stranger. In “Aspect of Destruction,” Guardians earn the second aspect for their Stasis subclass. Aspects provide combat bonuses to complement subclass abilities. For example, unlocking the Iceflare Bolts means that any time an enemy is frozen and shattered, seekers will shoot out toward nearby enemies to freeze them as well. Players must have the Salvation’s Grip exotic grenade launcher to complete this quest, as it involves destroying entropic shards.

Complete Fragment Quests and Unlock Stasis Fragments

Speak to the Exo Stranger to acquire Fragment Quests. These quests are specific to either the Crucible, Vanguard or Gambit game modes, and completing them rewards players with Memory Fragments. This currency can be exchanged for Stasis Fragments from the Exo Stranger. Stasis Fragments provide combat bonuses when equipped.

Only two Fragment Quests are available per week, and each Stasis Fragment costs one Memory Fragment. Players who are relying on access to Beyond Light via Game Pass will not be able to acquire all 14 Stasis Fragments before the Dec. 8 cut-off, but it’s worth trying to get some of them.

Players can get the “Lost Lament” quest from Banshee-44 in the Tower. This quest line includes various objectives, from finding dead Exos scattered across Europa to completing a strike, an Exo challenge and a mission. While parts of the quest line requires unnecessary grinding, players will receive a sword that is largely considered to be on par with the Falling Guillotine. Sword lovers will want to complete this quest.

Complete the Deep Stone Crypt Raid and Acquire The Eyes Of Tomorrow

Destiny 2 Beyond Light Deep Stone Crypt exclusive gear.

Beyond Light introduced the Deep Stone Crypt raid on Europa. Players interested in the history of the Exos will want to experience this raid, as the Crypt is the Clovis Bray research facility where Exos originated. During the raid itself, players hunt down one of Eramis’ followers, Atraks. Among the randomized loot Guardians can receive for completing the raid is the Eyes of Tomorrow exotic rocket launcher.
