Microsoft’s Phil Spencer potentially confirms that The Elder Scrolls VI will launch as an Xbox Series X|S exclusive.
During an interview with GQ, Spencer opened up about how Microsoft intends to approach exclusive software releases, specifically in relation to Bethesda’s upcoming line-up of titles. “It’s not about punishing any other platform, like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow,” said Spencer. “But in order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls VI. That would be true when I think about any of our franchises.” GQ goes on to note that Spencer believes The Elder Scrolls VI will have a similar launch to Bethesda’s Starfield, which will also be an Xbox Series X|S exclusive.
Little is currently known about The Elder Scrolls VI beyond that it’s currently in production at Bethesda Softworks. Announced in 2018 during Bethesda’s E3 showcase, a brief teaser trailer showed off the game’s logo and a sweeping fantasy landscape. Since the reveal, the developer has been tight-lipped on any developments. Many fans have grown impatient, demanding more frequent updates on how The Scrolls VI is progressing. Executive Producer Todd Howard recently opened up about how even his son has begun to ask about the game.
