Teen Titans Go! Celebrates a Doom Patrol Thanksgiving in New Crossover Clip

Beast Boy checks in with his first superhero family in an official clip from the two-part Teen Titans Go! special “A Doom Patrol Thanksgiving,” which is set to air on Cartoon Network this coming Friday, Nov. 19.

The clip sees Beast Boy (Greg Cipes) reunite with Teen Titans Go!‘s interpretation of the Doom Patrol, which consists of the Chief (Larry Kenney), Elasti-Girl (Cree Summer), Robot Man (Flula Borg) and Negative Girl (Rachel Dratch). Beast Boy first shares a hug with his adoptive mother, Elasti-Girl, before meeting Negative Girl’s new homemade “friend,” Mister Turkey.

Beast Boy and Robot Man then decide to have a wrestling match in the yard, though get sidetracked when Beast Boy stops to greet his adoptive father, the Chief. Things take a chaotic turn when the Chief and Robot Man start fighting over the batteries to the remote control, resulting in the two busting into the kitchen. Elasti-Girl breaks up the scuffle, saying, “Stop fighting, you two. This is Thanksgiving, not Christmas.”

Of course, in the original DC comic books, the character of Garfield Logan/Beast Boy was initially introduced as a member of the Doom Patrol in the mid-1960s. Beast Boy later joined the ranks of the Teen Titans in the early 1980s, at which point he was re-dubbed the Changeling. While Gar Logan has mostly left the “Changeling” moniker behind, however, he is still most commonly associated with the Teen Titans, having starred in all five seasons of Cartoon Network’s original Teen Titans animated series, which aired from 2003 to 2006, as well as in HBO Max’ ongoing live-action series Titans.

That said, the original Teen Titans cartoon did acknowledge Beast Boy’s history with the Doom Patrol in its fifth and final season, which served to explain why he left the oddball superhero outfit in the first place. Teen Titans Go!‘s version of Beast Boy has reunited with the Doom Patrol as well, namely in the four-part “Beast Boy’s That’s What’s Up” special in 2019.

“A Doom Patrol Thanksgiving” is part of Teen Titans Go!‘s ongoing seventh season on Cartoon Network. The show’s first six seasons are currently streaming on HBO Max. Meanwhile, those looking for a more adult-oriented take on the Doom Patrol can find just that in the form of the live-action HBO Max original series Doom Patrol, which recently concluded its third season and has already been renewed for a fourth.

“A Doom Patrol Thanksgiving” airs Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. on Cartoon Network.
