DnD Fizban’s Treasury: Every Draconic Feat, Explained | CBR

When leveling up in Dungeons & Dragons, players sometimes have the option to increase their ability scores or take on a feat that grants them special abilities that can come in handy both on and off the battlefield. Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons introduces three brand new Draconic feats with its release on October 26, each one designed to empower players with dragon-like abilities that will make them the envy of their peers.

Dragons often have unique abilities all their own, and though there are some magical items or racial traits that may mimic Draconic abilities, these three new feats require no attunement slot to put them to good use. As with other feats, they only become available at certain levels based on the player character’s chosen class. Here’s what players should know about Fizban’s Treasury‘s Draconic Feats.

Gift of the Metallic Dragon

The majestic Metallic Dragons are known for their good-nature and willingness to lend their aid to those in need, which is what makes this gift incredibly useful. Upon taking this feat, the player gains the Draconic Healing ability to cast Cure Wounds once per long rest without using a spell slot. The spell can be cast additional times using a spell slot if needed.

The Gift of the Metallic Dragon is designed to keep the party members safe, and the Protective Wings ability does exactly that. When a creature within five feet of the player is being attacked, they can use their reaction to safeguard the creature with a pair of spectral wings. These boost the creature’s armor class by the player’s proficiency modifier, and this reaction can be used a number of times equal to the proficiency modifier.

Gift of the Chromatic Dragon

While it’s difficult to imagine Chromatic Dragons giving anyone gifts, especially considering how greedily they guard their hoards, this Draconic feat allows the player to use a bonus action to empower their simple or martial weapons with a Chromatic Infusion similar to damage dealt by dragon breath weapons. Dealing 1d4 extra damage, the player can choose to add acid, fire, cold, lightning or poison to their strikes.

Additionally, the Gift of the Chromatic Dragon gives the player Reactive Resistance, which allows them to grant themselves resistance using their reaction to acid, fire, cold, lightning or poison damage. They can only use the ability to gain resistance to one type of damage per round, though this feature can be used a number of times per long rest equal to the player’s proficiency bonus.

Gift of the Gem Dragon

Sometimes, players avoid taking a feat because they don’t want to sacrifice the ability score boost, but the Gift of the Gem Dragon allows the player to increase their choice of Intelligence, Charisma or Wisdom by +1, while also granting them a useful ability. Telekinetic Reprisal allows the player to use their reaction to force a creature within ten feet to make a Strength saving throw. The DC for the save is equal to eight, plus the player’s proficiency bonus, plus the stat they chose to increase in taking the feat.

Upon a failed save, the creature takes 2d8 force damage and is pushed 1- feet away. If the creature succeeds, they still take half of 2d8 damage, but are not pushed away. This ability can be used a number of times equal to the player’s proficiency bonus per long rest.
