The My Hero Academia series is defined by the many diverse adversaries Deku and his friends confront. Oftentimes, Tomura Shigaraki’s League of Villains is responsible for the series’ conflicts and what danger is present in society. His threat has become especially severe after the recent birth of the Paranormal Liberation Front following the defeat of Re-Destro.
Nonetheless, there are a number of evildoers who pose their own unique threat despite being completely unrelated to Shigaraki and his allies. By identifying them, we can better understand that villainy takes on many different and unpredictable faces.
10 Teruo Was Defeated Before The Meta Liberation Army Joined Shigaraki
Teruo’s quirk increased his strength by how humiliated he became. In order to optimize its effects, he stripped down in public places while confronting Japan’s heroes.
Although Teruo was a member of the Meta Liberation Army (which later merged with the League of Villains), he was defeated by Hawks and Endeavor well before the two organizations could join forces. As a result, he is completely unaffiliated with Tomura Shigaraki and the bold new direction he intends for Re-Destro’s movement.
9 La Brava Was Only Interested In Helping Gentle Criminal
La Brava was Gentle Criminal’s sidekick in his trivial exploits across Japan. In addition to recording and digitally editing his crimes, her love-based quirk enhanced his strength in desperate situations, such as in his battle against Izuku Midoriya outside U.A High.
Perhaps La Brava’s most unique feature is that she has never been a formal member of a criminal organization. To that end, Japan’s heroes overlooked her escape after Gentle Criminal was caught since she was deliberately mislabeled as an unwilling victim of his exploit.
8 The Sludge Villain Had No Known Affiliation
The Sludge Villain was a viscous monstrosity who kidnapped Midoriya and later Bakugo in the series’ earliest acts. His viscous body made him a particularly treacherous villain, to such an extent that he even slipped through All Might’s fingers for a moment. Without the awe-inspiring power of One For All stopping him, he may have even been able to slip away from an active hostage situation.
Despite his formidable quirk and horrifying appearance, the Sludge Villain does not belong to any formal criminal organization. This may be on account of his brutal and uncooperative personality, as his ego might clash with personalities like Overhaul’s and Shigaraki’s.
7 Hekiji Was A Member Of Overhaul’s Organization
Hekij’s quirk allowed him to create powerful barriers in order to shield his allies. Although they provided an impervious defense against most forms of harm, those protected by it could not lash out as long as it was deployed.
Hekiji lent the boundless utility of his quirk to Overhaul and fought alongside Rappa during the Yakuza raid. If Kirishima and Fat Gum hadn’t collaborated as brilliantly as they did, he would have helped Rappa murder the heroes to enable their master’s escape.
6 Tabe Was Overhaul’s Most Ravenous Servant
Tabe attacked Suneater during the Yakuza raid, employing his powerful mouth to rip through the hero’s defenses. His derangement is one of his strongest weapons since it allows him to rush headstrong into fights without considering the consequences.
Like Hekiji, Tabe displayed a surprisingly high amount of loyalty to Overhaul regardless of his gluttonous and undisciplined behavior. As a strict adherent to the principle of honor among thieves, he is not likely to turn his back on his employer even after being defeated and arrested.
5 Stain Was A Vigilante Who Worked Alone
Stain viewed the societal construct of heroism as disingenuous given the profit incentive involved. When his pleas for reform went unheard, he took to the streets as a vigilante in order to make his own justice.
Although Stain flirted with the notion of a partnership with Shigaraki, it never came to fruition. He criticized the villain for being a bratty psychopath without a true mission, and the two would have come to blows at the conclusion of their first encounter without the interference of Kurogiri. However, many of Stain’s admirers, such as Spinner and Toga, joined the League after he was arrested.
4 Ending Was A Madman Who Wanted Endeavor To Kill Him
Ending was a villain previously incarcerated by Endeavor. He appeared outside the Number One hero’s house on a fateful night to kidnap his son, hoping to receive the death he had fantasized throughout his imprisonment.
Unfortunately for Ending, he failed to anticipate Endeavor’s three new students. Together, Bakugo, Todoroki, and Midoriya subdued the evildoer and returned him to prison where he belonged. There are no indications that Ending was a member of any villainous organization.
3 Curious Died Before The Meta Liberation Army Merged With The League Of Villains
Curious was responsible for producing the Meta Liberation Army’s dogma. During their attack on the League of Villains, she deliberately tried to keep Toga alive long enough to have an interview so that she could utilize her story as a propaganda to gain public support.
The woman’s underestimation of her blood-stealing opponent became her downfall. She was the only one of Re-Destro’s major lieutenants to die before the Meta Liberation Army and League of Villains merged into the Paranormal Liberation Front.
2 Gentle Criminal Was A Man Desperate For Relevance
At first, Gentle Criminal tried diligently to become a professional hero. Despite his best efforts and after an unfortunate accident where he nearly got an innocent person killed, it seemed as if his ambitions would never be realized.
Disgraced by his parents and forgotten by society, Gentle turned to a mundane form of villainy in order to satisfy his thirst for relevance. Alongside La Brava, he performed increasingly daring stunts across Japan in hopes of finding the recognition he could not live without. Gentle’s goals were once again brought to a swift and unceremonious end after being defeated by Izuku Midoriya.
1 Overhaul Was Shigaraki’s Biggest Competitor Until His Defeat & Arrest
Overhaul was the leader of the Yakuza and Shigaraki’s greatest rival in the criminal underworld. Not only did he destroy Mr. Compress’ arm, but he also murdered Magne without substantial repercussions.
The villain’s quirk-negating bullets threatened to dominate the war between heroes and villains before the raid on his hideout. Shigaraki ambushed the escort who detained him in order to destroy his hand as a parting act of retribution. In the end, Overhaul’s excessive ambitiousness brought the downfall of his entire criminal enterprise.
