Fans of the scarlet speedster have received their first look at the upcoming DC Extended Universe film, The Flash.
Shown during DC FanDome, the trailer included plenty to discuss following the movie’s extensive production. The film has been in the works at Warner Bros. since 2015, numerous setbacks and delays pushing the film further into the future until it wrapped this month. However, the latest look shows fans that the movie will be arriving faster than you know it.
The new look at the film was teased last week in a trailer for the DC FanDome event. The trailer gave brief looks at previously seen artwork depicting Ezra Miller’s Flash and Michael Keaton’s Batman, an image of Miller on the set of the movie and the actor telling viewers that, “It’s going to blow people’s heads off.” Earlier this week, the director of The Flash, Andy Muschietti announced on social media that he would have a surprise for fans who tuned in to the streamed event.
So, what do we know about the movie? Set in the DCEU, the film will follow Barry Allen (the Flash, scarlet speedster, fastest man alive, etc.) following the events of Justice League, though it is unclear if it will address either the 2017 version or the recent Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut of the film. The Flash will be inspired by the iconic DC storyline, Flashpoint. The story was written by Geoff Johns with art by Andy Kubert and has been adapted into an animated film, The Flashpoint Paradox, and also inspired the Season 3 storyline for the CW show, The Flash.
While Ezra Miller will be starring in the project, they will be joined by many other actors like Keaton, giving the Flash many other heroes to join him on his journey. Not just one, but multiple Batmen will be along for the ride, with Keaton reprising his role as Bruce Wayne from Tim Burton’s Batman films, and Ben Affleck reprising his role as (you guessed it) Bruce Wayne from the DCEU. However, there appears to be no intention to have a third Bruce Wayne at the moment, being that actor George Clooney explained in an interview why he would not be reprising his role as the caped crusader from Batman & Robin (1997).
Of course, the world’s finest Batmen are not the only ones joining the film, since a member of the Super family will be involved as well. Sasha Calle will be suiting up as Supergirl for the film and is reportedly set to receive her own HBO Max series following her character’s debut in the DCEU.
The first look at The Flash is now available, the film racing to a theater near you on Nov. 4, 2022.
