Dexter: New Blood Posters Show Michael C. Hall Looking as Naughty as Ever

New posters released for Dexter: New Blood show that whether the weather is hot or cold, the series’ titular serial killer will be up to some wicked behavior.

In the posters via Collider, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) can be seen carrying a garbage bag through a frozen forest in the middle of the night, blood stains gracing the overalls he wears over a sweater. The series revival will feature the protagonist far away from his last home in Miami, trading in the sunny beaches for snowfall and icy breezes. In the posters, one especially, Dexter appears to be fully immersed in his new environment.

Dexter stands alone on a snowy night holding a garbage bag.

As viewers can see, the first poster features a twist on the series’ usual promotional images to feature Hall. For the show’s past seasons, Hall was always photographed with some amount of blood on his face to highlight the character’s deadly nightlife. The first poster here trades in the blood for snow resting on Hall’s face, getting stuck amongst his features.

The second poster then returns fans to a familiar sight: Dexter carrying a questionable garbage bag. Because he boasted himself to be “a very neat monster” within his inner monologues to viewers of the series, his method of disposing bodies consisted of him keeping his victims on plastic wrap and placing their remains in garbage bags that would be ferried and dropped into the ocean by Dexter’s boat, “Slice of Life.” With his boat destroyed and a new locale, Dexter would need a new method of disposing of bodies, but it seems he is still trying to keep tidy.

The first footage for the Showtime revival debuted during Comic-Con@Home 2021 at the end of a panel with the cast and showrunners. During the panel, Hall discussed how the Season 8 finale was “mystifying at best,” those on the panel discussing the need to give the story a proper ending. Since then, Hall has revealed which episodes are critical to watch again before jumping in to the revival.

A trailer released by Showtime in September illustrated more of the season’s plot. While involved in a new romance with his local town’s police chief, Angela Bishop (Julia Jones), Dexter will become aware of a string of children going missing from the town. Other plot threads teased for the revival include Dexter’s dead, adopted sister Deborah (Jennifer Carpenter) filling in the role of his dark passenger for his father Harry Morgan, as well as the serial killer reconnecting with his son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), who was last left in the hands of one of Dexter’s former love interests and serial killer, Hannah McKay.

The revival season of Dexter, which Hall has insisted should not be treated like a ninth season, will also feature actors including Clancy Brown, Alano Miller, Johnny Sequoyah and David Magidoff, as well as a return by John Lithgow as the Trinity Killer. The season premieres on Nov. 7 on Showtime.
