Iron Man and Hot Toys Activate the House Party Protocol With Silver Centurion Figure

Hot Toys has announced that the fan-favorite Iron Man Silver Centurion armor will be available soon as a premium collectible.

Based on the likeness of actor Robert Downey Jr. as he appeared in Iron Man 3, the Silver Centurion (Armor Up Version) joins the Movie Masterpiece series in 2023. It is highly detailed and intended for adult collectors, so it won’t be on the shelves at every day toy stores. The figure retails for $485 USD and is available to pre-order through Sideshow, with payment plans that start at $54.56 a month.

At 32cm tall (or just over 12.5 inches), the Silver Centurion is sized for the 1/6th scale collector. The figure has LED lights that run through the chest and connect to the helmet. Additionally, it comes with two alternate heads — one that shows the battle-damaged face of Tony Stark and another that depicts the suit when it is in autopilot mode. Beyond that, the Silver Centurion features interchangeable hands, articulated die cast metal armor pieces and a unique stand.

Hot Toys has begun re-releasing many of its older figures that can be hard to find on the secondary market, such as Iron Man 2‘s War Machine armor. In the case of the 2014 Silver Centurion release, however, the company has gone a step further and created an entirely new mold, depicting the armor as it forms around the body of Tony Stark. The effect was also used on the most recent rendition of Iron Man 2‘s Mark V’s suit, known commonly as “the briefcase armor.”

The design of the Silver Centurion armor in Iron Man 3 was inspired by the suit worn by Tony Stark beginning with 1985’s Iron Man #200. After a few years of James Rhodes as Iron Man, Tony came back to fight in the Armor Wars with a new look that would last for the next 30 issues. While the Silver Centurion armor didn’t last quite as long in the MCU, it made an impact on fans and remains one of Iron Man’s most popular looks.

Fans that are looking to honor the legacy of Iron Man on a slightly smaller scale can keep an eye out for the Marvel Legends Iron Man/Thanos two-pack that captures their epic final fight from Avengers: Endgame.
