Before Eren crippled Levi with the truth hidden within his inherited Titan abilities, the young scout served as a powerful ally. Marley, The Beast Titan, and General Magath changed AoT, but dedicated fans will never forget when Eren was nothing more than Levi’s underling within the Survey Corps.
As a member of Levi’s elite group of scouts, Eren served as a key unit in the war against the titans. Whether that meant sweeping dust off of his floor or sealing the walls of Shiganshina, Eren abided by Levi’s rule because he knew at any moment the strongest human soldier could end his life and cut the plot of Attack on Titan in half.
10 Eren Used A Boulder To Plug Up The Hole in Trost District
If it hadn’t been for Levi’s late arrival, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin all would have been killed at the battle of Trost. Of course, if they had been devoured by the remaining pure titans roaming around Trost District, they would have died as heroes.
Without Eren’s help, Levi would have been forced to redefine Trost as hostile territory. This would have pulled him and his elite squad away from the job of surveying the land outside of the walls while they fought to eliminate the titans flooding into Trost.
9 Eren Helped Levi Clean The Scouts Base Within Wall Rose
After Levi put his life on the line to save Eren from the vultures hiding within the Military Police, he put the young titan shifter to work with a mop and broomstick. Inside the walls of the old Survey Corps HQ, Eren and the special operations force deep cleaned the entire fortress on Levi’s orders.
To be honest, Eren didn’t stand a chance of living up to Levi’s cleaning standards. Still, without Eren’s help, Levi would have been cleaning out the old HQ for a much longer period of time.
8 When Reiner & Bertholdt Attacked The Scouts, Eren Diverted Their Attention & Saved Levi’s Strongest Allies
On the day Reiner and Bertholdt revealed their Titan form to the scouts, Eren’s quick thinking and combat prowess stopped the two Marleyan Warriors from wiping out a number of the Survey Corps’ strongest members. After Reiner attempted to pull Eren over to his side and Mikasa failed to take out the Armored Titan before he transformed, Bertholdt could have easily wiped out everyone on Wall Rose.
Instead, because of Eren’s presence, Bertholdt held back the power of the Colossal Titan. This allowed Eren to shift into his titan form and turn the tide of the battle back over to Levi’s scouts.
7 Alongside Armin, Eren defeated Bertholdt With The Skills He Mastered While Serving Under Levi
The Colossal Titan is one of the most powerful titans thanks to its massive size and the ability to release massive amounts of energy all at once. This ability makes the Colossal Titan the equivalent of a walking atomic bomb. Without Bertholdt’s Colossal Titan, Reiner and Annie wouldn’t have been able to put much more than a dent in the walls.
Bertholdt single-handedly forced Levi and the scouts to pull back their surveying efforts on two separate occasions in order to protect territory that should have been under the control of the Garrison Unit. Thanks to Eren and Armin, the Colossal Titan was no longer a threat to Levi and the scouts.
6 Eren Crippled The Armored Titan And Sent Him Running Back To Marley
Combined with the might of the colossal titan, the armored titan forced the scouts to pull back their surveying efforts on two separate occasions. First, when Reiner and Bertholdt attacked Shiganshina, Levi and the scouts were forced to redefine the land between Wall Rose and Wall Maria as hostile territory.
Next, the two titan’s attacked Trost District and forced Levi and the scouts to postpone their next scouting mission a second time. Thanks to Eren, the Armored Titan was soundly defeated within the walls of Shiganshina, and Reiner was forced to retreat with his tail tucked between his legs.
5 Eren’s Commitment To Killing Titans Pulled Armin & Mikasa Into The Survey Corps
Outside of Levi and Erwin, the three most valuable members of the Survey Corps throughout the Attack on Titan series were none other than Mikasa, Armin, and Eren. Though fans might not want to admit it, before Eren betrayed the scouts, he led them further than any other member of the Survey Corps ever had before.
Fan’s don’t often give Eren enough credit for his leadership, but if it weren’t for the Attack Titan’s commitment, neither Armin nor Mikasa would have become members of the Survey Corps. Without these two, Levi would have been tasked with holding up the scouts against a force of intelligent titans on his own.
4 Eren Set The Stage For Historia To Take Down Rod Reiss While Levi Handled Kenny
The third season of Attack on Titan is still celebrated as the best of the best AoT content. This season pushed Levi to his limits by setting him and Eren up against the combined might of Kenny Ackerman and Rod Reiss.
While Levi managed to handle Kenny on his own, it was Eren who pushed his Titan Shifting skills to their limit and took down Rod Reiss in Titan form. In doing so, Eren learned the hardening ability that would allow him to seal the holes in Shiganshina and propped Historia up as the new ruler of Paradis.
3 Eren Created Another Opportunity For Levi To Take Down Zeke
The rivalry between Levi and the Beast Titan has been a large part of the last few Attack on Titan arcs. Even now, anime fans are still waiting to see which combatant will end up on top.
While Levi may have disagreed with Eren’s Assault on Marley, it did help him get closer to the man he had promised to kill. Thanks to Eren’s attack, Levi was able to abduct Zeke and bring him back to the Island of Paradis to face judgment.
2 Levi & The Scouts Would Have Struggled To Defeat Annie Without Eren’s Help
Though Levi is fully capable of taking down any number of pure titans, Intelligent Titans are a different beast altogether. Annie’s Female Titan proves this when she thoroughly decimates the Survey Corps in her pursuit of Eren.
Though Levi proves to be capable of keeping up with Annie in combat, it is Eren who consistently pushes Annie into vulnerable situations. Without Eren’s help, fans can be certain that the Island of Paradis would have been destroyed by the invading Marleyan Warriors.
1 Eren Sealed The Gates In Shiganshina & Created New Titan Killing Machines With His Hardening Ability While Levi Had A Chance To Rest
After Eren helped Levi by taking down three intelligent titans and sealing the holes in Wall Maria, it became extremely clear how valuable he was to the Survey Corps. With his help, Erwin and Levi managed to push back against the might of the titans and regain control of hostile territory.
While this was an impressive feat on its own, Eren took it a step further by using his hardening ability to help build new titan-killing machines. With a little help from Hanges, Eren offered Levi the chance to rest while the Garrison took down the remaining titans from the top of their walls.
