Lex Luthor is set to return to Supergirl and partner up with Nyxly not just in evil, but in romance as well, as revealed by showrunners Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner.
While speaking to The Wrap, Queller and Rovner discussed the upcoming love-centric story arc between the two villains. “One of the things we’re excited about is that Lex and Nyxly are gonna team up in not only a world domination way, but a love story,” Rovner stated. “So we’re excited to see that.”
Queller added that the reason Lex develops feelings for Nyxly is because the 5th Dimensional princess is just as twisted as him, adding that the Greatest Criminal Mind of Our Time is “gonna finally fall in love with his equal.” In addition, Queller and Rovner said Acrata — the alter ego of Andrea Rojas — will also be a thorn in the side of the Super Friends. “What we can say about Acrata is that, in her quest for getting further embedded in the Super Friends, you know, she causes a bit of trouble,” Rovner concluded.
Supergirl‘s final season returned on Aug. 24 following a hiatus, during which it was replaced in the lineup by Superman & Lois. While the plot of the series finale is currently unknown, star Chyler Leigh stated that it was “definitely a cryer,” adding that it is “emotional” and “beautiful.” It was recently confirmed that said finale will bring back the characters of James Olsen, Winn Schott and Mon-El.
Supergirl airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
