Sometimes, people just feel like they need to get away from everyone else for a while. Life, be it because of work, school, or anything else, can just drain all your energy and desire for socialization.
When most people realize that they need a break from the rest of the world, they go to one of their special places. Most people have at least one place where they can go in these types of situations. Ideally, people get to choose places that are at least somewhat secluded, so that they know they won’t be bothered by anyone. Many places in the DC Universe would work wonderfully as these types of special places. Unfortunately, even if these places weren’t fictitious, normal people probably wouldn’t be able to get to any of them, given their secretive and dangerous natures.
10 The Justice League’s Watchtower Isn’t Easy To Get To
Normal, everyday people really have no way of getting to space. Astronauts, those members of society who do have the capabilities of traveling there, still have to undergo a long, difficult, and very complex process to travel beyond the Earth’s celestial borders. Luckily for the Justice League, these travel difficulties work perfectly to keep their space base (the Watchtower) safe and secure.
Its highly advanced weapons and defense systems also aid in this task. While the League does spend a decent amount of time in their base, usually they are out saving the world and whatnot, so if someone looking to take a nice long break from everyone else somehow found their way up to the Watchtower, it’d probably work out quite nicely for them.
9 The Fortress Of Solitude Has Quite The Fitting Name
There are most likely a few popular locations chosen by people when they’re thinking about the most isolated places on Earth. The bottom of the ocean and the Sahara Desert are two of these locations. The Arctic is another common choice. Unsurprisingly, it’s also the most common location of Superman’s Fortress of Solitude in DC Comics.
The Fortress serves as Superman’s base of operati0ns on Earth. He and other people close to him, such as Lois Lane and his cousin, Supergirl, have also resided here on many occasions. There is also a zoo filled with alien animals and as much alien technology as one could ask for here, so anyone who’s able to travel here would not only be far away from everyone else but they’d be completely entertained the entire time.
8 The Phantom Zone Isn’t The Safest Destination
Traveling to another dimension must sound very nice to someone in need of a break from everyone else. Because of this, they might be drawn to visit the Phantom Zone if they ever had the chance to. This place is a pocket dimension that exists outside the space/time continuum. Maybe most importantly, most people can’t interact with anything due to the fact that people only exist as psychic entities of themselves in the Phantom Zone.
However, it’s worth noting that Krypton used to send its prisoners here, so there may be some dangerous entities spread out throughout the realm.
7 The Batcave Is A Well-Kept Secret
Every superhero needs their own base of operations. Some even go so far as to make theirs a secret lair that hardly anybody knows about. This is the approach that Batman opted for. Under his home of Wayne Manor, the Batcave is filled to the brim with advanced technology, including Batsuits, vehicles, and gadgets.
Most importantly, there’s always a ton of Batman’s rogues’ gallery’s memorabilia on display. While Batman, Alfred, or any other member of the Bat-family might be down there sometimes, there’d definitely be enough time for someone to go hang out and check the place out. Just be careful of any traps.
6 Mars Is A Lifeless World
At first glance, Mars in the DC Universe is exactly the same as it is in real life. The planet is a rocky and barren wasteland covered with red dust. This may be true in the modern times of the DC Universe, but the planet was not always as it is now. There was a legitimate Martian civilization on the planet, but almost all of its inhabitants were killed when the planet’s biosphere failed.
J‘onn J’onzz, the Martian Manhunter, was one of the survivors of this tragedy. Despite the sad history of this place, it’d be the perfect place for someone to go and take an extended break from Earth.
5 There Would Be No Disturbances At The Source Wall
Most people wouldn’t even know what they’d expect to find at the edge of the universe. Many might expect a nebulous boundary of energy that simply can’t be crossed. Some people might expect that the universe could just go on forever. DC’s answer to this question of what lies at the edge of the universe, or multiverse in this case, is the Source Wall.
This structure of incomprehensible size is meant to stop anything that tries to leave the multiverse. It does this by turning anything that touches it into part of its structure. Understandably, almost nobody travels here, making this a prime destination for anyone seeking some solitude.
4 Themysicra Is Paradise On Earth
A remote island in the middle of the ocean which is home to a beautiful landscape and some wonderous architecture probably sounds nice to everyone, not just people who need a break. Well, Themyscira might not be empty of people, but there’s more than enough room to go find a quiet spot to rest.
Plus, it’s an enchanted island, so it’s hidden from the rest of the world. Also known as Paradise Island, this place is home to the Amazons, a race of warrior women tied to ancient Greek mythology. The most famous of these women is of course Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman.
3 The Court Of Owls’ Labyrinth Is Unknown To Most
Deep beneath the streets of Gotham City lies an old labyrinth. This structure belongs to the Court of Owls, a mysterious group of individuals who’ve secretly been in control of Gotham since its earliest days. The Court seemingly uses this labyrinth to drive any who would oppose them mad, a plan that almost worked on Batman himself.
Given the fact that even the World’s Greatest Detective didn’t know about this place in his own city, it’s safe to say that this would be an excellent place to go get lost in for a while.
2 The Only Thing That Can Be Found On Ryut Is Death
The planet Ryut has a long and storied history in the Green Lantern mythos. It was once home to an entire civilization, but unfortunately, almost all of its inhabitants were wiped out during the Massacre of Sector 666.
It was only fitting that after this tragedy, the agents of death in the DC Universe, the Black Lanterns, make their home here. These zombie-like beings and their leader, Nekron, wish only for peace and quiet, so this would actually be an ideal destination for some people.
1 Heaven Is Whatever You Make Of It
Heaven is an interesting place in the DC Universe. Actually, multiple characters have described it as more of an idea or a state of mind for those who’ve died, but it is still a place that can be accessed by the living. Those with magical connections and capabilities are known to travel there sometimes.
If someone’s looking for a bit of rest from society, perhaps they should consider asking one of these characters for a ride there. Heaven provides its inhabitants the ability to essentially create their own paradise. This place could contain anything anyone could ever desire, including some peace, quiet, and privacy. And if someone were to interrupt one’s heavenly break, there are always angels ready to protect everyone’s paradise.
