John Cena Gets Heartwarming Surprise by Grateful Fan | CBR

A young fan of WWE star and actor John Cena described how a brief encounter outside the wrestling ring proved to be life-changing for him and his mother.

Project Dits tweeted a clip of Cena watching messages from his fans at an event sponsored by Cricket Wireless. Cena watches a video of a boy named Tyler tearfully describing his mother’s diagnosis of breast cancer. Tyler recalled a moment when he met Cena after a match, which is shown; Cena gives Tyler one of his wristbands and shakes his hand as he leaves the ring.

“When my mom was having her six-hour surgery, I gave her that wristband,” Tyler says, “and I told her to never give up. And … she’s now cancer-free.”

Cena responds, “It’s pretty cool, at a young age he has such great perspective. It’s pretty cool to see, man.”

Then Cena is startled when Tyler breaks through a paper backdrop and joins him to personally thank him. They hug, and then Tyler’s mother joins them, carrying the wristband in a clear plexiglass case. She says, “This is what you gave him. He made pretty sure that through my cancer journey, he’d say, ‘Mom, Cena says never give up.’ And I’m cancer-free.” Cena brings her in for a hug, saying, “That’s great.”

Cena currently stars as Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad in theaters and HBO Max and in Vacation Friends on Hulu.
